A Rainbow Planet.

The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, stated yesterday,

"A great light has gone out in the world. Nelson Mandela was a towering figure in our time; a legend in life and now in death - a true global hero. Across the country he loved, they will be mourning a man who was the embodiment of grace.
"Meeting him was one of the great honours of my life. My heart goes out to his family - and to all in South Africa and around the world whose lives were changed through his courage."

Mr. Cameron, that great light has not gone out. The ideals of Nelson Mandela shall continue to light up the minds, the hearts, the souls of those who have been oppressed and those that cherish equality. We, who have been persecuted, undermined, devalued as humans, shall maintain our peaceful defiance.

Nelson Mandela had a dream for South Africa. That of a "Rainbow Nation", a term expressed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.  A unity of multiculturalism.  One nation no longer divided by the segregation inflicted upon the non-whites.  A nation where all must be treated equal without fear of repercussion.

Perhaps Mr. Cameron can have a moral revelation. May he learn of humble dignity and grace. Understand that the poor, the vulnerable, the most despairing in society, will rise above the injustices we have been burdened with.  As I sit here, one of many victims of a brutal British regime, I think of Nelson Mandela. The great light of hope will forever shine.

I believe in a Rainbow Planet.

Mr. Cameron should be in jail for actual inhumane acts against the vulnerable. Perhaps that would make him understand human values. Here's to a rainbow planet.

  5. I agree with you Gary, but I do feel that what Mr Cameron said was quite true also. To a point. A great light has indeed gone out in the world.

The Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu said yesterday: "We are relieved that his suffering is over, but our relief is drowned by our grief."

Sure, the light will forever be imprinted in our hearts, but its gently warmth and flickering flame is now but a dim twinkle on a distant shore.

    RIP Nelson Mandela.

    1. Hi Wendy,

I think that the spirit of the great light must live on. We can make that happen. David Cameron, without going too political, is an evil man who could learn some understanding of what it's like to be underprivileged.

It will never be a dim twinkle on a distant shore. We can make that happen, dear Wendy. I shall continue to battle and challenge oppression with all I have left.

Wishing you and your loved ones, a peaceful weekend.

  7. I saw him speak in Oakland in 1990. I was very supportive of him. But I have a few friends in South Africa who have said that violence & murder against whites has increased substantially, with members of the ANC and other chanting, 'kill the boer'. It's a shame that this news hasn't made it to mainstream media. It's a very dangerous place there now....it doesn't appear that his promises to unite the races ever came to fruition and for that I am very disappointed.

  9. It would make such a difference if those with the ability to make real change would do more than 'spout' the words. It's so easy to come to the podium and speak highly of a great man, it's much harder to make those words reality. I pray for unity and peace, but those prayers have been said for years and years and years, and look were we stand. Until materialism is less treasured and peace and unity become the true gold - we will struggle to see his world a reality!

    1. Hi Yolanda,

And sadly, there a number who spout who are only trying to make political gain. David Cameron is the type of immoral politician that Mr. Mandela was outraged with. Most of our political leaders are too busy trying to score points and feed us with bullshit propaganda.

We must never give up the fight to realise unity and peace. Once the love of money is replaced with the love of humanity, the world can then be that place of our dreams. We must not let apathy stop us from removing the evil in this world.

Thank you, Yolanda. You are a marvel.

Mr. Cameron went to apartheid south africa on a "fact finding" mission by an organisation that wanted to lift sanctions against it, all expenses paid. So he's changed his opinion and now thinks Mandela was right after all :)

Your experience in South Africa must have been a deeply moving, emotive moment. I was tempted to go a bit further in my posting in regards to Cameron. Then I thought I'd keep it rather gentle. Yes, David went and sipped champagne while a real hero was held captive in an eight foot by six foot cell. Maybe Mr. Cameron can now really prove that he embraces the ideals of Nelson Mandela. That would amaze me beyond words.

I just found out that Nelson Mandella was still on the US terrorist list when he was president of his country. They'd "forgotten" or couldn't remove his name (technicality I believe was sited). It was Condoleezza Rice who lamented this "oversight" during her term as Secretary of State. I love history.

As for Nelson Mandela, I've been awed by the many heartfelt tributes to him over the last couple days. Despite what he was dealing with in his country, he had a place in his heart for the struggles of the Native American people of the U.S. He once shamed our leaders for the treatment afforded the First Americans, as he called them. For that, and for everything he did and stood for, he will forever shine on in my heart. What an incredibly special person he was. He will never be forgotten.

It's up to us to keep Nelson Mandela's goals and aspirations alive in deed and in thought. As a child, I thought of myself as an "earthling" instead of from some country - too much S/F I suppose - but I've maintained that concept to this day. We are all human and should be treated equally. 1. Hi Rum-Punch Drunk,

The powers that be could imprison the man, but not his mind. Indeed, instead of coming out with revenge, he was determined to see reconciliation.

      Thank you, my friend.

  51. I've been enjoying the constant Nelson Mandela tributes on the telly here in Paris. I missed the memorial service but the replays of Barack Obama's eulogy were magnificent. I agree. The rainbow planet continues whether Mandela is alive or dead.

The sincere tributes to Nelson Mandela were what it's truly all about. Obama's eulogy was most inspiring. The Rainbow Planet gathers momentum and what Mandela started, we will continue.

May you have a peaceful time in Paris, Denise.
