Penny's Pawmoting Pawsitivity.

Hi there, yes it's me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star!  I wasn't going to post for about another week.  I had other things to do like snooze, go out into the garden, chew on grass, come back inside and puke up a green slimy lump onto my human Gary's freshly washed bed sheets.

However, I have been listening to Gary go on and on, in a rather cynical fashion, about all those self-obsessed, self-promoting, egotistical bloggers with like a zillion followers.  "Look at this one, Penny!  Their writing is absolute crap and they have a zillion followers!   Heck Penny, even my crap writing is better than that!"  "Calm down old dude!  Calm down!" I responded to my human.  "Not all those bloggers with loads of followers are self-obsessed, self-promoting and egotistical!"

I then proceeded to show Gary an example of what I meant.  "Here Gary, check this blog site out."   "Good grief, look at that!  This guy has over 1600 followers" , noted Gary.  "Heck Penny,  I have been, along with your good self,  actively interacting with other bloggers for five and a half years.   Of course I'm not jealous Penny, but excuse me while I go sob uncontrollably in a darkened room."

"Gary!   Have a good look through this site.  This blogger promotes, brings further awareness of others, writes up about movies and loves music.  Most notably, one of your favourite Canadian bands, "Rush".  Heck Gary, the guy even has two science fiction books published, "CassaStar" and "CassaFire".   And Gary,  in embracing the ethos of a sharing, caring blogging community, he has made mention of me, yes me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star!  Heck Gary, even mentions you!"

Alex J.Cavanaugh, we are most flattered and grateful that you would make note of us amongst that fine list of bloggers you mentioned in your latest posting.  You know, for a human, you rock!  If you have never had the pleasure of visiting Alex's site and witnessed an ideal Gary and I adhere to, here is the link to his site and his latest posting :   Alex J. Cavanaugh

And speaking of 'followers', the 'puparazzi', once again, have been following me and hounding me.  Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, Penny xx

    1. Hi Alex,
My human friend, thank you. My human Gary, is fast asleep. I wonder if you can be slow asleep? Anyway, my human and myself have much respect for you, you "geeky" science fiction author, you! Making the world a better place is being demonstrated in the diversity of the blogging world. You, good human, are testimony to this.
Yes, I'm in charge. My next mission is to finally make Gary a better writer. Wish me luck! And thanks again for the mention of this shy, humble and oh so unassuming site.
Peace and pawsitive wishes, your way, Penny :)

    2. Penny, I am sure you can inspire Gary to be a most awesome writer.
And my site is no more assuming than this. It's merely a watering hole for those in need of a positive boost. And I am humbled to command and guide it.

    3. Hi Alex,
I shall keep attempting to inspire the poor old fella'. Although, even teaching him a few basic tricks such as rolling over, doesn't seem to work. Maybe I should try giving him human treats.
Unassuming and modest is this site. Like you, this site, in its own way, has been here to forward a positive boost to our electric friends, speaking of Gary Numan. You will know I totally relate to your ethos. An ideal we both treasure.

    4. Penny, positive energy is far more powerful than negative. And it repels the negative.
It is the friends, the connections I have made online, that mean the most to me. Yes, my following is large and my books continue to do well, especially in the UK. But what really matters is what I can now do for the friends I have made here online. Whatever I can do to celebrate their triumphs, joys, and successes. If I can be a small part of helping others, of encouraging, then that is true success to me.

    5. Hi Alex,
My human and I have done numerous postings on what you note in your first sentence. We are in total agreement. Indeed, we have done our utmost to create a positive and welcoming environment to all we interact with. Much like you, my friend. Indeed, a positive environment starts from within and in turn, emanates to the outside world.
We understand your ethos and we have demonstrated similar hopes and encouragement to others. You know we are all in this together and it is our pleasure to know we both rejoice in the diversity and shall continue to encourage and support our friends out there in the great blogging community.
      Thanks, Alex.

  9. Sweet Penny. It was so nice of you to promote another blogger. I hope you waited until Gary was out of the room to do it. Tell Gary that he may have fewer followers but they are (ahem) quality followers. That's what really counts. AS to the pupparazzi, have you considered sunglasses and a scarf when you go out?

I have worn sunglasses and even my 'Sherlock Hound' cape. They still um, sniff me out. Those darned 'puparazzi'! Our thoughts are with you both during these trying times, Delores.

I don't know how you cope with that human around .. he's on another planet - but at least he gets back to water, walk and care for you daily .. that's quite fortunate. He remembers ... his brain hasn't gone walk about .. mind you with those sulphurous clouds anything is possible ...

Looks like we're coming to the end of the warm days and summer wines .. next you'll be rushing through the falling leaves, kicking up the dust to give your human that delicous earthy scent ..

Enjoy Autumn ... you're a great blogging companion - Gary's lucky to have you step in ... cheers and thinking of you all - Hilary"

  25. Hi Gary,

    Er... I mean Penny :)

I know what you mean about the "zillion followers bloggers>' to be honest, it puzzled and kinda bothered me, as well. Even though I'm not the greatest writer/blogger in the world or even in my own state, probably, I know I still write better stuff than a lot of these people.

To the point, though, it doesn't bother me as much. maybe it's because I'm not as knee-deep into the blogosphere as I'd like to be these days or perhaps it's just the knowing that their followers are usually a case of them doing the ol' link trick and other not so sly maneuvers to gain their bloggers. Rarely, do I see a blog with so many followers with a decent blog and sometimes that blog will have a snazzy ass layout and design but piss poor writing and zero substance to it. I don't have that many followers, especially these days since I've been busy, but it doesn't bother me and I hope it doesn't bother Gary sometime in the future. I take satisfaction in writing what's in my heart. Those who come, read, follow or all of the above or welcome, of course, but in the end, it's the content that counts. content like yours. You provide laughs, comfort, support and meaning. Maybe, after all of these comments from the previous folks here or whatever, will encourage him to not let him get bothered by it anymore.

As a big Rush fan, myself, I wish to heck that they would hurry up and come out with their latest CD they've been working on. I downloaded a couple of their new songs from Amazon awhile back- but damn, quit touring already, guys and put the new damn album out. lol.

Pawsitive wishes, Penny. Don't forget to leave your pal, Gary a nice warm surprise in his bed. :) Now that this comment is officially longer than the post, itself, I think it is HIGH time I leave and bid you a doggy farewell. My cats say hi and by, too. :) Take care.

    1. Hi Kelly,
Sorry for the delay in replying. You know, a dog superstar can be very busy. And also, being so busy, I didn't bother to change the picture icon back to me. Ignore the silly photo of my human, Gary :)
It seems a lot of those 'zillion followers bloggers' are also 'drive-by' bloggers. They visit a site, maybe leave a token comment that really is not much to do with your posting, but everything to do with them bringing attention to themselves. Folks, then proceed to 'follow' their blog. Yes, I've seen the zillion followers bloggers with like zero comments on their site. It tells me quite a lot. A superficial situation.

All that superficial followers stuff doesn't really bother Gary or myself. We both know, like you know, that the most important part is the positive interaction we share with the fine community that we are involved in.

We can both go on cynical rants about it all. I know that Gary and I are a little more gentle about it that you would be. So, it was refreshing to note a popular blogger who genuinely cares and selflessly promotes others. I'm well into that ethos that gentleman Alex embraces. An ethos that you have always kindly done. You are always promoting other blogs via various social networks. That speaks volumes for your good self.

And Rush will get onto getting out their latest CD. I've told them you are getting impatient :)

Thanks, my human pal, Kelly. I must go now and leave a warm surprise on Gary's pillows! :)

Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, Penny xx
