Here is a photograph of our Jack Russell dog named 'Penny'. Penny likes music. This very clever little dog has featured in a number of articles on my site. If you wish to see how talented and loving she is, you can check out these 'dog blogs': The 'Wee Folks' Faithful Friend. A Canine Conversation. 'Congratulations! You've Won A...' and Filling The Vacuum.
So, if you do check out the preceding four postings you might get a better insight on this truly talented dog.
Now, Penny is a very small dog and I have been known to trip over her. I find myself apologising, 'I'm so sorry Penny! Are you okay?' 'Chomp..take that you stupid human!' I'm kidding.....
Penny's ears defy gravity. It's not uncommon for her to race around with her ears curled up. Penny has been approached by 'Star Wars' director, 'George Lucas', to play the role of 'Princess Leia', in an upcoming canine version of a Star Wars films, titled, 'Revenge of 'Daft Vader' (Attack of the Bones)'.
Penny is a family member. Through all my times of isolation, fear and sorrow, Penny has been there. Through all my times of joy, laughter and delight, Penny has been there.
Our blessed animal friends are a wonder to behold.. They give us gifts of loyalty, devotion and unconditional love. We have much to learn.

What a doll. Makes me miss Lucy, my golden retriever. She, ah, went to live with a nice family on the farm.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, animals are better than people, I think.
Hope you're well, my dear.
Hi Gary, What a wonderful picture of Penny. She is indeed a very precious little dog. I love coming to see her, And you of course. Penny always makes me smile and she gives some of the best cuddles.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have Penny to see you through, she is a wonderful friend.
Take care Gary. Love Julie. X
Aw, what a cute picture of Penny. It's always comforting to have a pet with you during different phases of your life. I have my cats, and I love to observe them when they observe me when I'm at my lowest point. They're really comforting!
ReplyDeleteGary, Have a fun-filled weekend and give Penny a neck rub from me.
S.
I’m beginning to understand what you mean – I live in a flat where we’re not allowed pets, but I’ve recently been walking my brother’s Brittany Spaniel. They are lovely animals
ReplyDeleteThe enigmatic, masked blogger strikes again
You are so right! Pets are there for us when people aren't...they offer us love and no judgement...They snuggle up when we are at our lowest. I'm glad you have Penny...
ReplyDeletePenny is too cute. And what a princess she would make. I bet she is from heaven. Look at that angel face.
ReplyDeleteI love my dog Bandit, so I can totally relate.
I was just this afternoon scrolling through some photos taken about 5 years ago of me and my walking friend, my sick bed friend, my scary nights friend (his and mine), my post-surgical friend, my playmate, and companion... the one I would talk to who would just look at me with those big brown eyes and just somehow understand... who would pace the floors with me when I hurt, who was just always there, who was beautiful and soft and a clown. We cried together, laughed together, were scared together, ran together in the park. It's a beautiful thing how much they really are family members, and how we take them for granted until they're no longer with us. Not so unlike our human connections. And it's also a bit amazing to consider that the modern domestic dog, descended from wolves, is actually a creation of man.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right... we have much to learn from that which we created.
Dear Gary,
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but I tend to mistrust those who prefer animals to people. Adolf Hitler, for example, was a well known animal lover and indeed a vegetarian, but we all know what happened there, don't we.
Anyways, that was more a comment on your comments than your post.
May I just say then, that please do not get me wrong, I love our furry little friends, and Penny is a fine example of "man's best friend".
Yours with a little controversy,
David.
Hi Gary,
ReplyDeleteyes, you've used the ole, 'Penny for our thoughts' on this post. I loved the prior posts on Penny too: especially the vacuum post. I myself am often surrounded by oodles of fur with our two lovely mongr...I mean sweet puppies. Because of dog fur's uncanny ability to adhere and clump to everything, I think it's time that someone tried marketing dog fur's sticky quality to 3M. There's a fortune to be made somewhere, I'm sure. Of course with four-legged cutie pies right at our feet, perhaps the fortune is already at our fingertips. Fun post to read. I will look forward to the next one!
hi mr gary! wow penny is soooo cute. i could just grab her up and hug her. im glad shes there for you. give her a pat on the head and an extra doggy treat from me.
ReplyDelete...smiles from lenny
Hi Gucci Mama,
ReplyDelete'What a doll.' Why thank you. Oh, you mean Penny lol
Golden retrievers are such loving and gentle dogs.
Animals can be be of great comfort to many. They can be a virtual 'life saver' for those who are alone or isolated. She has helped me make the most of some challenging times.
I am very well. I hope you stay positive and keep smiling:-)
With kindness, Gary.
Hi Juliet,
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks for that. Penny just loves your visits and she sure does like to nuzzle up to folks.
Penny has been very good for me in my determination to live a positive life.
You take very good care of you.
Love and peaceful wishes, Gary x
Hi Shanaz,
ReplyDeleteI think that pets, or as I refer to them, family members, are such an inspiration when we are up or down.
I'm really comforted to know that your cats are there to comfort you. No, I wont go into one of my rants about cats having an evil plan to rule the world:-)
You have a wonderful and peaceful weekend, Shanaz. Must go now and give Penny a neck rub.
In peace and respect, Gary:-)
Hello TBFKA,
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to be able to get out and take a dog for a walk. In a way, my little excursions out with Penny in the wonderful countryside, have helped me challenge my reclusive tendencies. That is most encouraging.
I'm so glad you managed to go out for a walk with your brother's lovely Brittany Spaniel.
Here's wishing you a peaceful and pleasant weekend.
With respect, Gary.
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI think that our beloved pets, which are important family members, can demonstrate true devotion and, like you quite rightly note, do not pass judgement.
Penny has been of tremendous comfort during times of loneliness.
Your dog, Macy, is so adorable:-)
Have a peaceful weekend.
Kind wishes, Gary.
Hi Joylene,
ReplyDeletePenny is so cute. Well, they say that our 'pets' take on the resemblance of their 'owners' lol
Seriously, she has been a very important part of my life, especially when it became rather daunting.
I wish Bandit, you and your family, a fantastic weekend in beautiful British Columbia.
Take very good care, Gary.
Hi Joanne,
ReplyDeleteA touching and heart warming comment you have so kindly submitted.
What a tale of true unwavering devotion by your four legged family member.
We do indeed have many lessons to learn from our descendants from wolves. Thank you for your profound comment.
With respect and kind wishes, Gary.
Dear David,
ReplyDeleteWell, technically, we are all animals. Anyway, I do realise that the excellent comments on here were about folks' perspective on how much their beloved pets aka additional family members, have impacted their lives in a positive way.
I know you love animals other than those of the human kind. Penny has been, for lack of a better word, 'therapy', in my attempt to live a happier life.
I see no controversy in your comment. Always a pleasure to get varied opinions on my postings.
Thanks David. Hope you have a great weekend and feel free to get in touch.
With respect, Gary.
Hi THE SNEE,
ReplyDeleteI was considering using, 'Penny for your thoughts', as the original title of this blog.
I'm pleased to know you got sucked in by my 'vacuum' posting and Penny's mysterious dog hairs.
Your marketing idea is fascinating. I think there is real money to be made in regards to this sticky situation. ..'perhaps the fortune is already at our fingertips.' You could well be right, and if I were a dog, it would no doubt give me, 'paws for thought' :-)
Have a super weekend.
Kind wishes and a clump of British dog hair, your way, Gary
Hey Lenny,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your really nice comment. I will most definitely go and give Penny a pat on the head and an extra doggy treat.
Have an awesome weekend, Lenny. Hope you have lots of chances to wear your really neat sunglasses.
Smiles, your way, Gary :-)
I'm a dog lover who, as an adult, has never owned a dog because of various circumstances. Your love for your dog is touching and I certainly agree that we learn a lot from dogs.
ReplyDeleteThey wear their hearts on their sleeves, so to speak, and are incapable of cunning, subtefuge, dishonesty, lieing etc.
A dog is a friend whom, when you love them, loves you right back unconditionaly!
Amen to that, Brother Gary! Pets are or can be a truly unappreciated companion to us all at times and it's great to see you featuring yours here and expressing just how important she is to you. I think we tend to forget how important they are to us, sometimes.
ReplyDeletePenny is a hell of a cute dog you got there, floppy ears and all, and you sound lucky to have her.
That's really what I missed the most, while we were on our cruise, recently- our pets. They give you love, unconditionally. What is more comforting than that?
Not an animal man myself Gary but I don't like them being harmed. (Sir Tom with a halo, the new St Francis).
ReplyDeleteShe's a real cutie, Gary.
ReplyDeleteXX
Hi bazza,
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a thoughtful response.
I think we could learn a lot from our canine friends. Loyalty and love, with no hidden agenda is a hell of a start.
Cheers bazza and have a great week.
Kind wishes, Gary.
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteAmen Brother Kelly. I say, amen Brother Kelly...
It is all too easy to take our animal friends for granted. I suppose that's one of the downer sides to humanity, taking for granted, too many things in our lives.
Penny is a cute and loving dog and I appreciate her so very much.
You are a great lover of the little furry friends in your life. Gee, I hope that didn't sound too weird. Your affection, and the fact you missed your pussies, whilst on your cruise, demonstrates what a soft hearted dude you are. I say amen Brother Kelly!
All the beast, I mean best, to you, Gary :-)
Greetings Sir Tom,
ReplyDeleteAh, but good and noble sir, you are an animal. The preceding sentence may just be subject to interpretation.
"(Sir Tom with a halo, the new St Francis)." Hmmm..I was thinking more along the lines of, 'St. Bernard', complete with the mandatory rum barrel...
Have a jolly delightful week, old chap.
Hi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteYes she is and I have told her what you said. Penny thanks you. 'Arf, arf':-)
Hi Gary
ReplyDeleteI have 2 jack Russells - Max and Paddy and they often feature on my blog too. Paddy could be a sibling of Penny - he is a small Tri-colour with kangaroo ears when alarmed. I also trip over him, apologise, pick him up, fuss him... you know the script!
My dogs teach me to live in my day, treat each day if it were the only one I had and each meal as if it were my last. They are 2 bundles of energy and total unconditional love. Couldn't imagine life without them.
Smiles and blessings
Hi Juliana,
ReplyDeleteI sure do know the 'script'. The number of times I've tripped over Penny and apologised. She is very forgiving:-)
Seems like you have double the fun and Jack Russells are such bundles of energy, for sure. Unconditional love and our friends in the animal world can make us so grateful for all we have.
I shall be coming over for a good visit of your wonderful blog.
Thank you, Juliana.
Kind wishes and respect, your way, Gary.
