Eye Have A Vision.

Eye then, what's going on here?  In my last posting, it had been noted that the photo looked rather like an "eerie alien eye".  So, for your delight, here is an eye.  It's actually my eye and 'eye' took the photo.  I was always, okay sometimes, okay, hardly ever, an attentive 'pupil'.

On Wednesday, February 6th, I had to go back to the hospital to try again to do something that didn't happen on January 23rd.  If you haven't got a clue what I'm on about at this point, the details of my previous hospital adventures can be found here : New Year's 'Wee've'.. and here : From Leek To No Leak.

Okay, on February 6th, I was asked to come back and 'POD', which is 'Piddle On Demand'.  I was prepared this time.  I knew the actual reason I was going to the hospital.  So I topped myself up before departing to the hospital.  Upon arrival and checking in, I headed straight to the drinks machine and had a few extra cups of water to complete my topping up process.

"Are you ready, Mr. Pennick?", inquired the nurse.  "Um, can I have a few more minutes please?", I replied.  "No problem.  I'll come back in a few minutes", stated the nurse.  The few minutes soon went by and off I went to the 'Piddle Room' to test my urinary flow.  I thought to myself, "Yeah, I'll show that machine!  Pretend I'm taking a leak on a robot, or think of waterfalls, or turn on a tap!  That'll do it..."  And then...and then....nothing happened, again!  "Oh nurse!  It aint happening.", I declared.

"Right then.  We'll have to see how much fluid you have in your bladder by using the ultrasound.", explained the patient nurse.  Finally, the reason I thought I was originally at the clinic, was actually happening.  Yay, I was going to get some cold jelly on my belly!

After my ultrasound, which I can confirm indicates I'm not pregnant, some nurses had a deliberation about my situation.  It turned out that a consultant was going to be seeing another outpatient and if I could stay around, he would find time to see me.  I agreed and I waited for the consultant on a seat temptingly close to the toilets.  While I waited, you guessed it, I had to go to the toilet twice in about ten minutes.  Darn it!

The consultant was a very pleasant gentleman and he understood my 'bashful bladder' problem.  While he explained what was going to be scheduled next, I had this incredible urge to go for another leak.  Sitting there, smiling through gritted teeth, I listened to what was proposed.

They wanted me to have an MRI scan and a prostate biopsy.  I would be informed of my appointments within about two weeks.  On Friday, February 8th, I received a phone call from the secretary of my urologist.  And just like that, I now have to go for an MRI scan on Tuesday morning, February 12th and a prostate biopsy on the afternoon of February 14th.  Me thinks it's going to be one Valentine's Day I will not soon forget.

Then, oh yes, then, on the morning of February 15th, I have to go for a medical assessment.  This would be a medical assessment done by a private 'healthcare' company working on behalf of the British government at a huge expense to the British tax payer.  The agenda is to claim a significant proportion of those too sick to work, the vulnerable, those with mental health issues, are deemed fit to work and their disability benefits stopped.  Oh the evil irony.  Still, I can always remain standing during my assessment.  "Sorry 'health professional', cannot sit down, I've a right pain in my ass!"

Yet, no matter what they try, I will not let them destroy my spirit, my passion to eliminate such injustice being imposed on so many desperate souls.  And the NHS, the National Health Service, our treasured universal healthcare?  They have treated me with respect, understanding and dignity.  Something the immoral British government could learn from.

The photo of my eye.  It has seen enough tears shed.  Yet, the photo of my eye also has a vision of a kinder, caring, more compassionate world.  My friend, my vision has been inspired by you.

  1. Nothing says love like a prostate biopsy, huh?
Gary, praying all goes well with that. I know you're facing a big challenge the next day as well. Does the biopsy and everything play in your favor with that?
Keep believing in the compassion as well. It is real and it is out there.

    1. Hi Alex,

Indeed, love hurts. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. The biopsy and all the other tests I'm undergoing are to check what's wrong with me. I have to believe that whatever's wrong can be put right.
The compassion I sense, that genuine sincerity keeps me going. I'm profoundly moved by the vibrations. Thank you, Alex.

  2. I had a POD on Wednesday. I was fortunate that I had just enough piddle in me to fill up the cup. It would always be nice if they gave you some warning so you can drink up ahead of time. Though one time I had to have an ultrasound I had to drink pretty much a gallon of water and then wait for them to run the test. It was a long time in the bathroom after that I tell you what.

    1. Hi PT,

I wish it was just a cup full they had required. It seemed they wanted me to fill up an Olympic sized swimming pool. Yeah, slight exaggeration! Ah yes, the ultrasound. I know what you mean. Which reminds me..time to go to the can, man...

      Thank you, PT.

  3. So I cannot say I understand what you are going through, although we of the other gender, have exams that we are not that excited about as well.

And you will have to forgive me for giggling a bit when you explain your predicament, but Gary, you really are quite funny as you describe it all.

Through it all, I am sorry that you are having to go through the tests, and deal with the health care system and wish you only good news. If they ever get around to getting to it.

Thank you for your concern and support. The healthcare system has been excellent to me. The British government, has not.

  4. I too have had to drink several liters of water and hold it til I felt near to bursting, then have that cold jelly and a pushy probe shoving on my bladder. I'm glad that the only thing I haven't had go wrong with me has been a prostate. *smiles*

You indeed seem to have a swollen one, the cause of which can be more than cancer. Stud was peeing pure blood (PURE blood) for weeks. They finally discovered it was a broken varicose vein in his prostate. Who knew?

I hate to be judged. It goes against my grain, and here you will be judged to make sure you ARE capable of working, whether you are or not, and they are already stacked against you.

Britain is beginning to sound a lot like America. Only here, the truly worthless get aid while the truly handicapped get pushed around.

I'm so sorry for life's heavy loads.

    1. Hi lotta joy,

I was at least prepared this time, knowing why I was actually going. Thought I'd be ready. The ultrasound was to check the amount of fluid in my bladder. I quite enjoyed the jelly on my belly. I just cannot seem to find a comfortable fitting bra! :)

Despite the bloody scare, thank goodness your hubby didn't have anything more concerning. Several surgical gloves later and it appears that it is somewhat enlarged. The big concern is high 'PSA' Prostate-Specific Antigen levels.

Many folks not capable of working have been deemed fit to work. Yes, by all means, I understand trying to weed out the fraudulent claims. This evil government is having people assessed who are far too ill to work, as fit to work. Then the appeals process has to be gone through. I could list the horror stories. If you search for ATOS, you will see what I mean.

As in America, those who are unfortunate are paying the cost of the incompetent fortunate. This has to stop.

I thank you for your caring thoughts. My resilience knows no boundaries.

In peace and kind wishes to you and Stud,

  8. Hi Gary,
I'm glad that you found those doing your tests to be compassionate and caring people, and I do hope that things trun out to be OK. Meanwhile, we all know about how "caring" Atos can be, but I would just say to hang in there, and maybe the re-assessment too will work out. I think there is growing concern amongst some MPs that the re-assessment programme is not working, with many appealing decisions and winning their appeals, and also with the "work capability assessment" not really taking into account one's mental health. Maybe some change is on the horizon, then, my hairy, large-prostated pal. We can but live in hope.
Very Best Wishes, Gare, and I hope to speak to you soon,

    1. Hi David,

Thanks and yes, those at the hospital have been kind, caring and compassionate. I do have some worries about it all and next week will push my stress to the limit. Unbelievable that despite my concerns, physical and mental, I have to prove I'm not lying. There should be growing concern from any decent MP, regardless of party. You know the internet has a growing list of angry, scared people. I wonder how all the mental health charities are responding to this outrage. The positive aspect to this is that my conviction to see some justice realised for all those subjected to this, grows ever stronger. The problem with the appeals is this. The extra stress while waiting for an appeal. What are those who are waiting for their appeal to happen, supposed to live on in the meantime. JSA for those too sick to look for work. What a farce this is.

Change for the better may well be on the horizon. That hope we share. Talk to you soon, my jovial friend.

      With good wishes and hope,

      Gary

  9. I am hoping the biopsy also proves you aren't pregnant. Otherwise, you've got bigger problems than you thought. I hope you see compassion from the health professionals as you take each of these next steps. I've had a brain MRI. I think I went a little crazy in there (a brain one is well over an hour, but others are typically much shorter), and even gave myself a case of the mental giggles because I started imagining various things making the noises. One good thing is that they are doing these tests fairly quickly, so you don't have months of waiting ahead of you, but really?? You'd think they'd close up the prostate shop on V-Day.

My turn to switch to all seriousness. Good luck with these tests and the results. I truly do hope you meet with compassion at every turn.

Each small step brings me closer to knowing. I'm looking forward to going in the tube. Although, not sure if I'd have a case of the mental giggles such as you experienced. I'll probably lie there and think of just how awesome I am. Or something like that. I was shocked to get a phone call that gets me in so darned quick. I do hope that's a good thing.

  27. I have a job interview on Tuesday - more good karma, see!

In all seriousness now. You have been through a lot, and sometimes you just want to scream to the heavens, or God, or the universe or thowhomeveritmightconcern, can't a brother get a break??? I know it sucks, but I also know how relentless your dedication to positive thinking is. I'll be sending out positive thoughts and prayers your way in the next few days and weeks. Hugs.

    1. Hi Chris,

I'm extremely delighted and encouraged that you are having a job interview on Tuesday. Good karma, indeed. I shall think of karma as I'm lying inside some weird tube :)

It's been a tough time and the next week is going to be one of the toughest of my life. Yet, with my embracing positivity, something wondrous is happening. I sense the caring, the prayers, the vibes. I also know that the positive energy to remove the negative evil that is causing so much suffering to the most vulnerable of humanity, will see the evil removed.

Thank you for your positive thoughts and prayers, Chris. And remember you are remarkable and the world needs more people like you.

      In peace and hope,

      Gary

  30. Have you been eating an inordinate amount of green beans lately? In 1970, my husband was in Vietnam, and I was at home, working in the hospital. At lunchtime most days, I got a side order of green beans from the cafeteria, which my co-workers thought was quite funny. One day, one of the doctors tacked a newspaper clipping to the bulletin board beside my desk. It was about an English gal who went into labor,(Oops! Excuse me... "labour".) and swore she didn't know she was pregnant. In fact, she said she was a virgin... and attributed her condition to... eating too many green beans. So, ya never know...

Seriously, good luck with your tests.

    1. Hi Susan,

How the heck did you know? I've 'bean' caught out. Actually, I have been having peas from a pod, or is that pees from a POD....

Yes indeed, labor, sorry spell check, labour! :)

Thank you for the good luck wishes for my tests. I'm most grateful.

In kindness and peas, sorry, peace,

      Gary

  31. Yikes! I'll be sending my best 'best wishes' vibes to you during all 3 days! Hope all is well!

Bet Penny is relieved you're not pregnant - having to babysit might put a crimp in her relaxation time!

    1. Hi Jemi,

Yikes and triple yikes :) Your best wishes vibes for my upcoming week are gratefully accepted.

Penny is so busy preparing to become the next 'Paw Minister' of Britain, she barely would have time to babysit. The lady needs her rest :) Thank you, Jemi.

      In kindness and an eh,

  33. Since the start of the year, my life has been about hospitals and tests and I can only expect more of that.
Eeeks. I certainly dislike MRIs, Gary. Hope you get through your tests just fine.
    Many hugs.

    1. Hi Jaya J,

I'm very sorry you are going through an ongoing, most likely an anxious time with your hospital visits and tests.

Have had my MRI scan and it wasn't too bad. I think the noise of the darned thing was the worst. Or was it the music on the headphones! :) Thanks for your kind wishes. Wishing you well with your hospital visits and tests. Stay positive and smile :)

      Hugs and kindness,

      Gary

  36. I hope everything went well today. It doesn't seem like they are giving you much information. I'd be asking all kinds of questions and annoying everyone on staff. I just hope that after all these tests, the results come out in your favor and you can begin healing. Just keep in mind all the people who are thinking of you and all who will be with you in mind on the 14th. Stay strong, keep us posted if you can, I'll be sending you positive vibes my friend, ((((((hugs)))))))

    1. Hi Elise,

Everything went well today, thank you. I ask questions, however until the results are in on February 25, there's not a lot they can tell me. Okay, I did ask if I could go for another 'ride' on the MRI scanner. I hold firmly in my heart and soul the kind, caring vibes I'm receiving. I embrace your positive vibes, Elise. Deeply grateful. Thank you.

Hugs and peaceful thoughts, your way,

      Gary :)
