Snow Way.

Oh my goodness, I was going to do another posting to delight you beyond any adequate adjective.  However, I'm putting that posting on hold.  I know, try to control yourself.

Instead, upon looking out the window, I noticed on Friday evening that we were experiencing one heck of a snowstorm.  Not exactly wanting to go outside in such weather, I opened the front door so Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star and yes, the next 'Paw Minister' of Britain, could go and change the colour of the snow in the garden.

She went out the front door for about thirty seconds and proceeded to scurry back in.  "Are you out of your mind, human?  I'm staying in here where it's nice and warm.  And go fix me some food!", the adorable dog declared.

Realising that she probably would soon need to relieve herself and eventually I might end up walking on a wet patch of carpet, my son, Tristan, got Penny suitably dressed.  Even I got myself suitably dressed to go out and brave the swirling flakes of snow.
This is what we encountered on the street outside our house.
I'd struggled to take a photo that wasn't blurry.  Not easy trying to take a photo while a Jack Russell is tugging at her lead.  So very near the house, I let her off the lead.  She doesn't exactly seem thrilled with being outside.  I'm assuming it's still an issue with the snow.  Or perhaps she has observed the pesky 'puparazzi' ready to hound her.  Such is the life of a famous dog.
I managed to get one more scene of such a cold, snowy night.  The car in the foreground is mine.  Yes, of course, my Aston Martin, Rapide S, is getting serviced.  I looked around and where was Penny?
Tiny pawed track marks left clues on my snowed over pathway.  And there she was, at the top of the stairs, "Tristan, let me in!  Your dad is crazy!"

  2. Poor little girl.....but so fashionably dressed. We have snow here as well on a Friday evening. Out on the 401 we have a 50 car pile up thanks to the seasonal weather. Let the dog in Gary and put another log on the fire.

    1. Hi Delores,

Usually, she loves the snow. But tonight it was particularly bad. And I know you've been getting snow. I hope the 50 car pile up wasn't too serious. Penny is in, safe and warm. The fire is flickering and the hot chocolate is soothing.

      Have a safe, cosy weekend.

  3. Aww, I'm guessing you folks don't get snow much, do you? Penny looks quite fetching in her winter tweed. She's pretty smart, too. The best place to be in weather like this is inside, preferably in front of a roaring fire snuggled up with somedog you love. :)

    1. Hi Leslie,

Not that much snow, usually. However, over the last couple of weeks in Britain, it's been quite the snowy scene. Yes, even a few flakes of snow and the whole country grinds to a halt. Penny will be delighted you think she looks fetching in her Sherlock type tweed :) Usually, she really does like to be out in the snow. However, this evening it was so bad, she thought, to heck with this! :)

Now she is all warm and cosy snuggled up on a blanket. And I wish we had a real fire. Oh well, time for some hot chocolate.

Have a nice weekend and stay warm, Leslie.

  4. I can't believe you would force Miss Penny to go out in that horrible cold snow just to piddle. Honestly, she is a star and soon to be Paw Minister. She should have an indoor toilet area.

    I must protest her treatment.

(Is that what I was supposed to say Penny?)

    1. Hi Bert and Vickie,

You know I would never force her out. The door was left wide open and she went to the bottom of the stairs, quickly checked out the scene and scurried back up the stairs, back into a nice, warm home.

Indeed, an indoor doggy toilet for the next 'Paw Minister' of Britain. What was I thinking?

And Penny will most assuredly, agree with you! :)

You stay warm and have a little more fun in the snow.

  5. Who likes putting on the dog when your extremities are screaming. Is Penny wearing her own plaid. (Forgive me, I keep forgetting if Penny is M or F) Having one's own plaid is great for decision making and Paw Minister will have a passel of decisions to make.
    Button up your overcoat.

    1. Hi Manzanita,

I know my extremities were screaming that being outside was not the best plan. Which made me realise why she was not exactly enthusiastic about being out there. Penny, the next Paw Minister of Britain, will be wearing her plaid coat when she is officially sworn in as Paw Minister.

Button up your overcoat. Take good care of yourself....

  7. Hi Gary,
Good job you caught the snow on camera when you did, as it is supposed to be getting warmer over the weekend and a big thaw is due (apparently), so now we can look forward to some flooding! Penny looks great in her little jacket, but it must have been very chilly for her. If she were male, it probably would have given snow balls a new meaning!

I see you're into chocolate and marshmallows in this freezing weather .. does Penny have said drink too - or is she more discerning regarding her waist line?

I'm delighted everyone decided to be wise and coat up to leak outside in Leek .. and now you need to be concerned about the leaking thaw ...

Penny and I were the only ones outside on the street in Leek where a certain dog had a leak. And the thaw has begun, drip, drip, drip...

Hey, no worries, I got an extra comment from you. The weather is not nearly so bad 'oop' North. Safe and warm and dry and 'poodle' free! :)

We had two indoor cats, Calvin & Hobbes, and we'd let them out into our tiny backyard in Albuquerque, NM. When there was snow, Calvin was like Penny - not a chance I'm going out in that! 27. How very fitting that Penny is wearing tweed. She looks oh so veddy British. But not especially happy to be out in that snow. Years ago, I had a very small dog who did not like the snow at all, and where we lived in Maryland, we got quite a bit of it every year. So, I had to shovel a path to a cleared "potty patch" in the yard for her highness so she didn't have to step her dainty little feet in the snow. (No Paw Minister, but she did think she was a queen.)

We're going to get hit with a sizable batch of snow again, tomorrow. Close to three inches, so it was forcasted. I was kinda hoping that the first onslaught of snow we got, last month, would be the last. It stayed on the streets and ground for weeks without melting. Like I say... snow is for children and skiers. For normal adults trying to get somewhere, on a snow or ice covered road, it sucks snowballs.

But when I was a kid, I would build igloos with it and hold secret religious cult meetings inside. Sshhhh. Don't tell.

I sure hope Penny didn't turn into a pupcycle while she was out in the cold for awhile. LOL. Take care, Gary.

  40. Hi human Kelly,

Gary is having a bit of a snooze. "Stop snoring, Gary!" Anyway, cause I'm here to reply, let's begin. My fashion sense is the envy of any dog that wants to look like 'Sherlock Hound'! I'm going to be in the next edition of, 'Dog House' magazine. I'm the centrefold. Think I'd better move swiftly on and yep, that Gary can take some interesting photos..

I hope that snow hasn't been too bad. Gary told me you were waiting for your good lady to come home and have a real nice meal. Snow was for me in my snow ploughing days. For you sort of normal adults, I know the snow can be a real pain in the ice.

Why am I not surprised that you had secret religious cult meetings inside your igloo. Your secret's safe!?

I almost became a pupsicle and we don't even have pupsicles in lil' ol' England.

    Thank you, human.

Pawsitive wishes, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! Soon to be the next 'Paw Minister' of Britain!! :)
