A Few Links Plus A Special Announcement.

Right then, I noted there are a number of "blogfests" out there and I see that a number of my blogging friends are doing this one, The Insecure Writer's Support Group  Details about this group, where those involved, do a posting about their insecurities, their hopes, their dreams and the support that those involved share with each other, is done on the first Wednesday of every month.  If you have never been involved with the group and want to be a part, then I would recommend it as a worthwhile endeavour for you.  This group was created by a gentleman that many of you will be familiar with.  However, if you don't know him and want to see his highly interactive and supportive blog, you can discover him here, Alex J. Cavanaugh

And of course, there's this blogfest,  Blogging from A to Z Challenge (April 2013) Yes indeed, the "brainchild" of Arlee Bird who can be discovered at his primary blog named, Tossing It Out  The last two years, I have been mostly doing alternative, satirical postings about the 'Alphabet Challenge'.  It has all been done in a sporting spirit and we've exchanged some good natured banter.

I was thinking about setting up my very own blogfest.  I'd name it "The BlogPest BlogFest",  Just think a blogfest where we could put up postings about how much a certain blogger annoys us and the reasons why.  Okay, forget that one.
Now then, continuing on, have you checked out the recently released book by Nancy S. Thompson, titled "The Mistaken"?  Nancy, one of my 'adoring fans' says she's not that famous.  If that be the case, perhaps you might check out this link and help make her famous, "The Mistaken" by Nancy S. Thompson   You can discover Nancy's blog site here, Nancy S. Thompson

Over the last couple of years, I have been working in the background with an author named Colin Hall.  His book is about to be released and it will be like no other book you read.  I'm very excited for Colin and I'm very flattered that he asked me for my opinion.  It has been my pleasure to support and encourage him.  Here is a taster of the book and I will publish further details when I receive them.  Here's a taster link, but the release date is incorrect.  Fact or Fiction?

Here is the front cover of Colin's book.
And here's an extract from Colin's book.
And here's the tantalising and intriguing back cover of Colin's book.  And Colin, thank you for considering my input to be of help.  It was my honour.

So, that's all for now.  May we realise a peaceful, positive 2013.  A year where we celebrate the diversity of mankind in an all different, all equal world.  .

You are most kind. I can highly recommend both books. The author I have been working with in the background is getting very excited about the soon to arrive launch. I'm thrilled for him and for Nancy :)

I shall give Penny a big hug on behalf of Bert. Maybe better not let Charlotte find out :)

May you both have a great weekend.

  8. I am always amazed (and also full of awe and wonder) at just how many writers there are in the blogosphere. Wonderful, accomplished and productive writers. On bad days it makes me feel quite inadequate, but then I remind myself that all of these wonderful writers need appreciators - and that is where I can come to the party.
And speaking of appreciators, this post is another where your innate generosity and just plain niceness is on display. Thanks Gary.

    1. Hi The Elephant's Child,

My dear friend, I am also amazed by those whose passion for the written word has seen them, through determination and resolve, reach their dream.

You write wonderfully, articulately and thoughtfully. No need to feel inadequate for your words, your heartfelt thoughts, are just as magical as any published author. However, welcome to the party as we applaud our fellow writing friends.

Very nice of you to say. I do this with little fanfare and I have been discreetly in the background trying to support and encourage. Very much like you, my kind friend :)

      Have a peaceful weekend.

      Have a wonderful weekend, Julie.

And Colin is not only enthusiastic in his writing, but I've had the great honour of meeting him. Although, I state humbly, he was starstruck meeting me :)

Thank you for your wishes to Penny and myself.

      Wishing you a happy weekend.

Bloggy love. Not me, I'm a rebel! :)

I didn't realise you're a person who constructs the wooden components of a building, such as stairs, doors, and door and window frames. Oops, wrong kind of joiner :) Actually Pearl, if you read my reply, I'm not into all these blogfests and do very much my own thing. Just like you do. I don't mind passing on the possibilities to those who might be into such stuff. Pearl, you and I are independent and I like that! :)

  13. Yay, I have Nancy's book. I have a few I need to read ahead of hers first. I have never done the A-Z challenge and probably won't again this year. I try to be consistent. But hey, that's just me. I like your idea for annoying bloggers. What I'd really like is to find those annoying spammers and freak them out a bit. That would be fun, eh?

    Happy New Year, dear friend.

    1. Hi Joylene,

Indeed you do and of course, you kindly sent me a copy of your superbly written book, "Dead Witness". And also, I haven't forgotten your email from a month ago. Just been through a hectic time, but I shall respond, very soon.

Even though I mention that Alphabet type challenge for those who might like to get involved, like you I haven't got involved. Those that organise it know I wont get involved. They have begged me to get involved but I do my own thing. Besides, it wouldn't fair on them if I participated. Okay, yeah, Penny and I satirise the A to Z thingy and the organisers read in paw and awe what we write.

Actually, I'm loving your angle on getting at them spammers and the 'drive-by' bloggers who do not care or have even read your posting. No, they just want more 'followers' on their sites. Very sad and insincere. "Great posting. Thanks for sharing!" Yeah right.....

Have a good New Year, eh. And hockey? What hockey?

  14. I just went on Nancy's blog. I just had to. I may or may not buy the book. When it comes to people of our ages, it is like buy your medicines or enjoy your hobbies. Also my brain is funny with books. I read small pieces of writing better than a whole book. I have to keep going back and forth even to remember what I am following specially fiction.
Happy New Year to You. May all your wishes come true. Amen.

I'm glad you checked out Nancy's blog. I know that buying a book, or even reading a book, confuses me at the best of times. I read a page and then think, what the heck did I just read. I understand what you mean. Which reminds me, I forgot what I needed to remember :)

Thank you and may your New Year be one of wonder and joy.

      Have a lovely weekend, Munir.

  15. I'd say Nancy is famous. Sounds like both of your friends have intriguing books.

I want to be famous, too. It might be a stretch for me to but I want to volunteer my services to be the annoying blogger in The BlogPest BlogFest.

Checked out Nancy's blog. You can tell she is a talented writer. I'll check out that book of hers at my favorite book store.

    1. Hi Kelly,

Nancy is getting even more famous. Although I know that she thinks of me as some kind of super celebrity. Yes, I made that up :) Colin's book is going to surprise a lot of folks. More to announce about this...

Kelly, you are famous. I know that you try to contain your fame, but don't be so gosh darned shy about it. You know, I'm really considering actually having a "BlogPest BlogFest". You can be one of the celebrated annoying bloggers.

Of course, you are correct, Nancy is a talented writer. Can you keep a secret? Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar, has been giving her writing advice. Okay, not really.

All the beast, sorry, all the best to you and have a groovy kind of weekend.

    1. Hi Mel,

Lovely to see you. Delighted you participate in the IWSG and that um Alphabet challenge. Of course, I don't participate because I don't want to make others envious of my incredible writing skills :) Yes Mel, I'm noted for my shyness and modesty :)

I'm pleased you will check out Nancy's book. And yes, this is one sharing, caring community and I'm really glad to know you.

I think I will set up the "BlogPest BlogFest". You seem a notable blogger to mention. Okay, I believe I'm kidding. And "snark". Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar did a guest pawsting, sorry, posting on some dude named Alex J's site. Penny informs me that snark is a combination of snore and bark. Have a good weekend and keep smiling :)
