My Human Has Gone For A Nap.

Greetings, tis I, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star.  Gary or 'klahanie', the human that I so kindly allow to live with me, has gone for a nap.  The old fellow is exhausted and thus I said I'd take over and do a posting for him.
This creates a bit of a doggy dilemma for me.  Whenever I do one of my thought provoking posts, the amount of visits to this site, increase dramatically.  I feel terrible for the poor human knowing that my articles are perhaps more highly regarded than his.  It has even been suggested that I set up my very own dog blog.  However, if I were to do this, Gary's site would probably be forgotten.  So, to keep you visiting, I will not set up my very own blog and just do the occasional post on here.

I've sensed that my human has been somewhat like this animal I know.  Half cantaloupe, half dog.  Yes, he's been like my friend the 'melon collie'.  Sorry, Gary's been melancholy.  Being the loving, caring Jack Russell that I am, here's a photo that I hope will cheer him up.  For yes, I have decided to forget about the football, jump down from my comfortable seat and pick up my dog hairs!

Now I'm back in my comfortable chair.  Maybe if I stick out my tongue and make a funny face, that will make  my human smile :)   You can click to enlarge these lovely photos of me :)

Recently Gary received this award from one of our dearest blogging friends, Joylene Butler, who if you've  never visited her site, can be found here:  A Moment At A Time On Cluculz Lake   However, because I recently did a similar posting about this in a slightly different format, thanks to Delores at the following location: thefeatherednest , I thought it best to just acknowledge and thank Joylene on Gary's behalf and not repeat myself.  The posting that I did was titled:  Penny's Seven Links.

Now I lay here on a nice warm blanket.  My human, so very, very tired, is still asleep.  Rest, my human, rest and awaken refreshed, with a smile on your face.
Until next time, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star, bids thee a fond farewell.  Ah yes....a nap seems like a very good idea........

  1. Oh, Penny, you're such a dear! What would Gary do without you? I sure hope Mr. Melon Collie is feeling better soon - and refreshed from his nap, too! Always, CindyLu xoxo

  2. Hi CindyLu and Kim,
Ah yes, 'Mr. Melon Collie', is still napping and has left me a note to go do comments on other blogs.
Well, I will do that, but he'd better give me some really neat doggy treats! :)
With my caring for him and my ability to make funny faces, I'm sure he'll be just fine. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  4. Bless you Penny for looking after Gary so very well and for being so considerate of his need for sleep. You are quite right not to start a blog of your own as we would all flock to your blog and leave poor Gary wondering where everyone went. We all know dogs write the best blogs.
Give Gary a smiley face for me and tell him we all want him to lose the melon collie.

  5. Hi CindyLu,
I reckon that if he looks at your face, when the old dude finally wakes up, he will think you're just as adorable as me, yes me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star. Arf! Arf! and BOL :)

  6. Hi Delores,
I will, for sure, let him get some more rest. Although, just having a look at him sleeping has made me ummm...feel kinda' drowsy..What was I doing? Oh yeah, us dogs write the bestest blogs and it would bother him to see me get all the attention and like have him get totally ignored.
Delores, I've tried to teach him how to write better, but he just doesn't get it. Silly man! :)
When he wakes up, I shall be smiling at him and give him a whiff of my doggy breath. And which point, he will go back to sleep..
He will lose his 'melon collie' :)
    Thanks Delores.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  7. Hi Y'all,

Yes Penny, this is our duty and our very reason for being...looking out for our hapless humans.

I'm sure all your efforts will be appreciated by Melon Collie.

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  8. Howdy Hawk,
Indeed, my fellow dog, we have to look out for them thar humans. Do you note I've practising to 'talk' like y'all :)
Melon Collie is gosh darn grateful for my lil' ol' efforts. I'm sure he would be impressed to know I'm pawing back this comment to you at almost three in the morning :)
Cheerio for now, my fine furry friend.

  9. Ah Penny, I figure you are probably asleep right now with the time change, but when you and Gary wake up.....make note that I think you are wonderful to take such good care and being so considerate of Gary.

It has been a long time since Melon Collie visited us. Not my favorite guest.

maybe you could teach him (melon collie) how to be a "Hot Dog" full of cheer and fun times....

    Take care
It was good to read one of your posts, but don't let Gary worry, we would still read his once in a while, if you started your own blog.

  10. Hi Bert,
I should be asleep, but, then again, just like my human, I've no concept of time zones :)
That's very nice of you to think I'm wonderful. Just like you, I know how important it is to take care of our humans.
And Melon Collie has been shown the door a few times. I just wish Melon Collie would get the hint :)
"Hot Dog"! What a great thought!
Thank you so much for reading one of my postings. I know Gary would be pleased to know you would still read some of his blogs, even if I started my very own 'hot dog blog':)

  11. Ah....it's so good to see and read from you again dearest, warm hearted, mild manner internet star, Penny, what would you do without your master?...oops, did I say that? I mean what would that poor sap of a human friend Gary, do without you? Am I being a tiny bit snarky? Well, I love you and you know that, but let's not get carried away tooooo much my friend, for Gary would be very popular if you should go off on your own. I'm greatly disappointed at the doggy pride that sneaked into your adorable head... stay humble little one, your much cuter that way. With love and affection.....oh (p.s.) give Gary your human sap, a wet lick for me, right on his nose. Thankx.......later!

  14. Hello Penny [and Gary, should you allow him to read this]:
And whoever said that it was a dog's life?

You clearly live in the lap of absolute luxury, idling your days away with just the occasional post to draw in the crowds. But, we have to admit, your pictures are very, very adorable!

  15. Awwww beautiful Penny!! You are not only a true shiny bright beautiful STAR, you are too good to allow Gary to share your blog and your fame! Yay!

Awwww but you must get rid of that other collie, Melon! You are the only woofie there for Gary and you do so make him and everyone smile! Take care x

  16. Awh such love and affection!

How good it would be if we all had someone like Penny (it rhymes :D).

Hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead. :)

  18. Dear Penny (and the other hairy one- erm, I think his name is Gary),
Well, you've certainly now proved beyond doubt, Penny, that you are a far superior writer to Gary. Don't let him know I said that, though, he'll only sulk!
Wishing you both many pawsitive vibes,
    David.

  19. You truly are a star, Penny and so beautiful too - I bet you've made Gary feel better (Tilly says dogs are best at making people smile, writing blogs and embracing stardom) x

  20. Penny, my favourite Jack Russell, you're an inspiration. Your loyalty is so touching. One thing though, you need to change your profile photo. You've been living with Gary so long, you're starting to look like him. Get someone to download a new closeup of your sweet face so you can temporarily stick it in while Gary's napping.

Yes, here's hoping you get plenty of tasty treats for being such a sweet girl. Kudos to you for keeping Gary around.

    Pawsitive hugs back at you.

  21. Penny you have such adorable eyes!! I bet you do the whole cute doggy stare look whenever it's your meal or snack time and your poor human Gary is too busy blogging to notice the time.

Thank you for such an entertaining blog post Penny, you have a natural gift! You're also sweet and kind to your human Gary I'm sure he'll break away from the melancholy once he sees this posting from you!

Here's a tummy scratch for you,

  22. Hello The Manic Chef,
My dear human type friend, I shall overlook your using the word "master" :) I'm delighted you are most likely thrilled to the point of uncontrollable joy that I have submitted one of my ummm....masterpieces...
I try not to get carried away. I did suggest that and I quote myself, "I feel terrible for the poor human knowing that my articles are 'perhaps' more highly regarded than his." See, I used the word 'perhaps' as in not a sure thing that he would be totally forgotten if I went of and did my own thing.
Indeed, I am humble, my human friend. I'm a 'modest' internet star! Arf! Arf!
I shall now go and lick his nose. See if I can wake him up!
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  23. Hi Diane,
Awe, thanks for that. I know that Gary's face has a big daft smile whenever he seems me playing around in the garden and in the house :)
Yeah, I think it works really well me doing the occasional guest post on here. A nice balance and it gives my human the chance to take a break from attempting some almost comprehensible writing :)
Seriously, we are great companions and he gets me the nicest doggy treats. Which reminds me, when he wakes up, he owes me some more doggy treats for doing this posting:)
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  24. Hi Hilary,
Gary doesn't get much sleep from what I've noted. Finally, he's taken a break and getting the longest nap. I mean, here we are a day later and I'm still waiting for him to wake up :)
I've been very tempted to lick his face and wake him up. However, I just jump on the bed and make sure he's okay and cosy.
Tomorrow morning, he will, I just know, after he finally awakens, will take me for a nice stroll to Rudyard Lake. Oh, I do love that walk.
I shall indeed look after Mr. Gary. And that darned 'Melon Collie' seems to have gone walkies...
Thanks Hilary and lets savour the last few days of ummmm...summer.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  25. Hello Jane and Lance,
I shall show him all the comments and what I have commented in response. I'm sure he will be most happy with how well it's all turned out.
It's easy for me doing the occasional posting. I quite like to do them. Besides, it gives Gary the chance to take a break from writing and commenting on this site and numerous others. I know that it can take him several hours to comment and then he feels terrible because he's overlooked someone. I have told him to just relax :)
Thank you for thinking my photos are very adorable. Very nice of you, my human friends.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  26. Hi Old Kitty,
Thank you. I think it's very good of me to do the random posting on his site. I've noted how few visits he gets. However, when I do a blog, the hits go through the ruff, I mean roof...
Melon Collie has been shown the door :) I do my best to make everyone and every animal smile. Say 'hello' to Charlie :)

  27. Hi Nas,

Hope you have a nice weekend.

  29. Dear David,
Gary has told me that you are a very nice human, as far as humans go and you look like you are auditioning for the role of Robin Hood. He says you can do a more convincing English accent than Kevin Costner. Can that be possible?
Gary is resided in the fact he will never, ever come even remotely as good as me when it comes to having a flair for decent writing. He's stopped sulking over it. Now he just sobs in a darkened room :)
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  31. Hi Joylene,
I'm honoured you consider me your favourite Jack Russell. I try to inspire and stay humble with all my thoroughly deserved fame.
I reckon it would be just a bit too much if we removed that photo of Gary. Yes, it's Gary. Might I add, for an old dude, he's quite handsome. Then again, I would say that...Although, sticking up my photo next time I do posting, is a good idea :)
Is that you holding a book? :)
Must go now and try and wake the old guy up. I would very much like my doggy treats....
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Gary xx

  32. Hi Shanaz,
Look into my eyes, Shanaz :) Yes, I do the whole cute, poor little doggy routine. I make darn sure he notices me and that I want some food. I jump up onto the keyboard and he gets the hint.
You're welcome for this post and thank you for your lovely comment. I just know that his melancholy mood will have gone as he will finally finish that nap and look at this posting by modest me and see all the wonderful comments :)
Thank you for the tummy scratch, my human friend named Shanaz.
