The New Year Is But An Infant.

2014 slipped away.  Now a notation in history.

The New Year is but an infant.  Wide-eyed, curious and full of renewed hope for a better world.
Fireworks on the river Thames, London, England. The New Year in with a bang, a boom, a blaze of resplendent glory
As the light faded on the first day of the New Year, I stared out my bedroom window.  Noted the last remaining rays of the setting sun casting shadows on St. Luke's church in Leek, Staffordshire. Time to think about that new adventure, perhaps just a dream.  A dream of 2015 being the year that those who are vulnerable would no longer be targeted by those in power.  A New Year.  A New Hope. A year in which compassion, sharing, caring for all, was not that elusive dream but a wonderful new reality.  A year when the world realised that we should rejoice in the diversity of an all different, all equal world.

A peaceful, hopeful, positive New Year to you and your loved ones.

  57. All the best to you for the upcoming year and may we all experience successes beyond our biggest dreams.

Looking at your photos of the festivities in London I began to think about all of the amazing fireworks displays around the world on New Years and wonder what if instead of spending money on fireworks what if that had been spent on the poor, the struggling, and the sick. And if all the people who spent time getting to and watching the displays instead had spent that time with volunteer work.

Bad news for the fireworks companies and everyone who was involved in these events, but I couldn't help but wonder. What if the money that was spent had been spent on doing good and the people could still go see the fireworks but just had to spend their own money to do it.

Guess I'm in a weird mood of pondering this morning.

Back to 2015, have a good year!

    1. Hi Lee,

And a hopeful, happy New Year to you, good sir. May your dreams become reality.

I totally agree with you in regards to the fireworks display. An exorbitant display of escapism, perhaps. I do know that the fireworks display in London this year was funded by those who paid to watch it in person by the Thames. As an advocate of using our energy to help the most vulnerable in society, I totally get your thoughts.

Your mood is justified. I use to get quite rebellious in Vancouver during Expo 86 when they had fireworks displays every night. It cast a nice glow over Vancouver's food banks.

2015 has started horribly on our planet. Now, more the ever, we have to change the world.

      Je Suis Charlie.

Nothing like a fireworks display, unless it's my ex wife :) It really is a nice view of the church out my window.

  65. Happy New Year my friend!!! I hope 2015 is a great year for you. Sadly, we've started this new year, as a world, with a whole lot of bad people doing bad things. But I remind myself- evil has always walked among us, but then so do the good. Look for the blessings- the world tries to hide it from us, but a keen eye will see it.

    1. Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you very much, dear lady. Indeed, a most saddening and distressing start to the new year. Blessings shall counteract the evil amongst us. Lessons must be heeded and those who would terrorise shall never win.

A peaceful, hopeful, rest of 2015 to you and your loved ones.
