Sit-Down Chariot Racing.

Hi there, yes, it's me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar!  My human, yet again, is still too lazy, is still having issues with chronic fatigue.  I know he's going for a full check-up this coming Friday, November 27, to see if they can finally give him a diagnosis.

So, once again, I shall take this oppawtunity to put up one of my must-read pawsts.

I love horses!  Whenever I see a horse on the TV screen, I try to jump into the screen.  So far, that hasn't happened.  Maybe I should get Gary to pawchase one of those 3D televisions with the curved screen.  That might work.

I saw this really weird horse racing on TV.  It was on a Welsh channel and I'm not too good with speaking Welsh.  This means, I shall have to learn some of that language from a Welsh Corgi.
I went and grabbed Gary's camera and managed to take a few pictures of what is named harness racing.  I'm pawplexed because I didn't see any of the riders chasing a harness, or for that matter, an electronic hare.  Oops, wrong sort of race.
Here's some more action from the harness race.  Actually, I think it looks more like a sit-down chariot race!
And even more action.  Quite the reaction and loads of traction.
I'm quite confused
Totally bemused
Look at the dude
How very rude
He tries to pass
All he sees is the horse's ass
What can he do
When he's covered in poo?
Astro Boy displays a plan of attack
Get the horse to crap in a sack
Wont prevent the lack of view
But the rider wont worry about the horse's poo.

  1. I've always wondered why anyone would want to race that way!!! Can't be any fun - even with the protective gear!!
Hope the check up goes well - and gives your human a boost with some kind of diagnosis or assistance. Take good care of each other, eh! :)

  2. It does appear to be unsanitary but the horse's human is like Gary and doesn't mind cleaning up after them. Penny, I know you're very sophisticated but you probably need some assistance unless you're trained to use the water-closet(WC) but who knows, those Welsh Corgis might shed some needed light on this stinky subject. :)

    1. Hi human, Eve,

Gary has had loads of practice as he's the guy with the shovel at the end of the parade. Not only am I used to using the WC aka loo aka bog aka can aka pawblic facilities, I have almost trained Gary. Looking forward to learning the Welsh language from a Welsh Corgi. They don't use many bowels, um, vowels in the Welsh language!

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, American style.

  4. Dogs and horses are a great combo. They seem to live each other.

I've never seen people behind the horse for a race...then again the only race I watch is the Kentucky Derby.

My dad would "go to the trots" every Saturday afternoon when they were on, and my brother and me would tag along. We'd hunt the ground around the betting area, for dropped tickets, maybe they were winners so we'd pick them up and stuff them in our pockets along with any dropped coins, mostly small stuff, pennies or sixpences, one time my brother found a two-shilling piece, so we got some hot chips to share.

    1. Hi human, Jess,

I get the impression you love horses! :) Interesting and I glad you liked working on a horse farm. I wonder if there is ever a mention of downstate NY. Delighted you loved my pawetry, dear human friend.

  45. Hi Penny,
    Please take care of Gary.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a bummer. Until they find the real cause of his tiredness make sure that Gary eats right, gets plenty of sunshine ( whenever possible) and gets some sleep. Don't let him have too much caffeine as caffeine does not give real energy. It only blocks the sleep receptacles. I think that you already know that as you don't drink coffee - - -right?

    1. Hi Munir,

Penny is over at her human brother's house and she made sure that I was okay before she left :)

Your thoughtful advice echoes what Penny has told me. Penny does worry that I drink a bit too much coffee and yes, I should cut back on caffeine. Other than that and with endless visits to the doctor, I'm doing my utmost to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I wish they could find the underlying cause of this chronic fatigue. I think it might not be a physical thing.

      Thank you, dear friend.

Give Gary a little lick on the cheek for me. I hope he's feeling better real soon.

    1. Hi Susan,

They couldn't pay me enough money to sit in some buggy and all I could see was a horse's ass!

Penny not only licked my cheek, she gave me a bonus whiff of her doggy breath!

Thank you, Susan and I hope I'm better soon. Either that or the dog takes over the blog!

      Have a lovely Sunday.

  47. Oh dear Penny, I hope your human, Gary has received some pawsitive news from his check-up. It is good he has you to look out for him and to take over his blog from time to time. Your pawsitivity is also so welcome.

I love horses myself. Always wanted my own as a young girl but sadly it never happened.

My best to you and Gary.

    1. Hi Suzanne Furness,

Thank you for that and Penny, what with her being over at my son's house, has told me it's okay to reply to your comment. Indeed, Penny's pawsitive pawspective has helped me. As for my check-up, I was told by the nurse to make an appointment with the doctor. I saw the doctor last Monday and the doctor told me to piddle into a tube and bring it back to reception when I could.

Sorry you never had a horse, Susan They are such lovely creatures, for sure.

Thank you, on behalf of Penny and my human self.

  48. Harness racing is cool. There's a racetrack near where I grew up and they would show the races on TV. It much more genteel than NASCAR.
Only there's not as many wrecks.

  50. Well done Penny, its handy that you can take over as blog administrator when necessary! That's a bonza pose you're striking in the header too by the way.
Gary, hoping Fridays appointment shed some light on things for you. And yes it seems the whole of the UK with the exception of the most southern parts and some eastern sections has really copped the onslaught of this Storm Desmond. We had 90kph winds through the woods at the back 2 nights ago and the River Cree is very high but not flooding - yet. Stay dry, stay warm down there! Rose.

    1. Hi Rose,

Indeed, thank goodness for Penny! :) Penny thanks you for liking her header photo. She's quite the poser.

Friday's appointment was more of having a nurse telling me to make another appointment with a doctor, who I saw on the following Monday. It's all so confusing because nobody seems to have an answer.

Storm Desmond was quite the angry storm Thankfully, we didn't have it as bad down here as up there. Hope you stay warm and dry, Rose.

      Gary :)

  52. I'm seriously wondering what happens when the horse goes to the bathroom. Other than that, it looks kind of fun.

I hope they have more information for you after your appointment. I don't think they take fatigue seriously. I addressed my chronic fatigue at a recent appointment, and they just did the same old tests and once again told me "You're a mom. Of course you're tired." Yeah, tired of that being the excuse I'm given for not being able to function. :(

    1. Hi Shannon,

Have you ever noticed that in North America, the word "bathroom" is used even when there's no bath. Ah yes, despite any unfortunate horse spillage, it does look like a bit of fun.

You are so correct, Shannon! Test after test and you get the feeling you're going in circles. The health profession seems to be completely lost when it comes to chronic fatigue.

      Thank you, Shannon.
