It's All About This.

When I do a posting, it's all about this.
It's all about a single father raising his son on his own.  About bringing up a young child in a safe, peaceful environment.  It's all about doing the best I can while battling with my mental illness.

It's all about my little boy, Tristan and a puppy named, Penny.  Symbolic of hope, of love.
It's all about my little boy who became a young man.  And those special moments, captured in a smile on a sunny day.
It's all about a puppy who became older but still listens to the voice of her inner puppy.

It's all about Fidelina, the beautiful fairy princess and her husband, Geoffrey the garden gnome.
It's all about their little boy, Einahalk.  An ideal created from love in the world of the wee folks.  A world that has lessons to teach us humans.  About living in an all different, all equal world.  Where no judgement is made.  No stigma attached.
It's all about the award that Penny sent out to humanity.  An award that has circulated this planet spreading goodwill and peace.  A gesture that embraces the unconditional, non-judgemental love that our animal friends share with us.

It's all about me continuing to live with, rather than suffer from my mental health issues.  It's all about my transparency and trying to be of help, of encouragement to you.

It's all about this and it's all about you.  For I'm grateful to you on the other side of the computer screen.  Thank you for being here for me.

I agree with Al Diaz. Tristan is lucky to have you.
Being a parent is so difficult. I always say I have two careers but in reality I have three. Motherhood is one of them and it is the one I find the most challenging and exhausting. But it is also wonderful.
As parents we learn each and every day, and the journey of life is a roller-coaster in itself.

Al Diaz is very kind to state that and so are you.

Parenting can be a challenge. When our children hurt, we hurt and when they smile, they light up our world. I know that I'm exhausted and the juggling acts of outside life can sometimes get too much. Somehow, we understand that all of that makes all of this, even more special.

The posts by Penny are ideals of a better reality. Penny is a therapeutic outlet that keeps me going. And the wee folks, a symbol of compassion and love in a world where stigma is an alien concept. And we shall fly. Nobody shall ever clip our wings, dear Julia.

But I'm here now to tell you that you have a heart of gold - not heavy gold, like in gold bullion - but true friendship gold, the kind that embraces and heals. I thank you for that, counting you as one of my special friends.

Now, about the fairy and her husband the gnome...they told me some outrageous stories about what goes on in your garden at night. Are you aware of the comings and goings? The night rides on moonbeams and skating on rainbows?

Here's to your elf :)

  45. Dude,

It's all about being honest - and I'm so thankful (coming out of Thanksgiving) that you are who you is - and who you is has the *balls* to stand up and say I will *not* be simply a statistic or a number.

I want to curse right now, but I won't, but just know, as you do, that I think you are a (insert bad cooking-sounding word) genuine peep and a real friend.

I can't know what it is that plagues your times of darkness/sadness, but I am so dam* happy for the posts you share - no matter the subject.

Therefore, you are a true friend - and should my travels bring me again to England, I will be sure to not leak in my desire to find a small town in Old Blighty.

I will search high and low and leave no staff alone in my search for the one village with a funny name and an awesome resident - oh and also the human that cares for him. :)

    1. Mark, dude,

Good sir, since the very beginning of this blog, the transparency was something I have always tried to convey. No stats or numbers required. Quite right, my friend.

I'm honoured to have your friendship. Friendship is what this is also all about. Sincerity and kindness are gifts you share and I share right back.

Overwhelming negative situations tested every fibre of my being. Our environment can have a devastating impact on our mental health. I do my utmost to not let what happened dictate how I am. Not easy, but resilience, demonstrating that my illness is only a small part of who I am, has been known to help out those who may be in the depths of despair. This is therapy, not matter what I write about.

If your travels grace England, once more, you can believe you would be warmly welcomed. I would organise the parade and purchase balloons :)

A place named after an onion has one resident with a strange Canadian accent, eh. Thank you, Mark. You are a marvel.

Happy weekend and well done for surviving Thanksgiving.

  50. Sorry about the late visit. Our son from Hawaii was visiting us and this time we had him home for about six days which is very rare. You know how time flies.

You are one of the best Dads I have come across. My niece has down syndrome .and both my brother and his wife are such good parents. I only know too well about people who suffer from mental health issues and their families. If any one has a heart it would be a family member of some one who is hurting.
You must have done a fantastic job raising Tristan and Penny.

Who is to say that only certain kind of people are good parents.

We went out to see what is selling on Black Friday and guess what - - - we found a copy of the movie called "Way way back". It is a wonderful movie about a boy in his early adult hood who finds his way to happiness while his step father puts him down. If you get a chance, see if you can watch it.

Take care of yourself. Give love to Tristan and Penny.

    1. Hi Munir,

I'm grateful that you visited. I'm delighted that your son came over to visit you from Hawaii. I've no doubt it was a wonderful family get together.

Mental health issues impact on all those concerned. Your brother and his wife have displayed that love goes beyond the ongoing challenges they incur. It seems that those with adversity are often the ones who can teach an inspirational lesson.

I have done my best on my own with no help from people nearby who she have been supportive. It makes me stronger and I have coped with my mental health concerns and still managed to be a loving single dad.

I shall try and have a look at the movie you mention The storyline is something that echoes parts of my childhood.

Thank you so much and my wishes of peace back to you.

      Gary :)

  58. You said it… A wonderful post of the true meaning of life. Living… With love, family, friends, furry pals, and joy. But along with this are the fears, stress, and sheer unpleasantness of the other aspects of life. But our inner strength keeps us grounded and we can appreciate the joys of life.

This Thanksgiving season reminds be to be thankful of the small joys in life and to appreciate our cyber friends who in my case are closer to me than my own family.

Let this holiday season bring you all the simple and lovely joys that life has blessed all of us with, and may the new year bring peace to all.

    1. Hi Michael,

And you echoed and added to my thoughts, kind sir. We strive for a balance. We strive to not let a negative environment sabotage our right to a peaceful life. The inner strength becomes even more profound in times of adversity.

This season of reflection, of hope, does make me understand that we have an impact on the world beyond our computer screens. This blogging community, a powerful force for the good.

A very thoughtful comment. And as the years closes, may the dawning of the new year, bring us that little bit closer to the all different, all equal world we cherish in our hearts.

  61. Hi Gary - I'm very late to catch this .. I've been 'studying' and that finished yesterday .. so now I'm getting back to my normal (erratic) blogging world ... We need your awareness of life and the challenges it throws up - but I love Tristan's photos .. boy has he changed! well I guess we all have .. then Penny too .. she who can take over when gremlins creep in ... and your gnomes ... and if only we could live in a world that is judgement free, and kindness is endemic, while our brains think of the next 7 generations and what we'll leave for their benefit ...

It is all about our loved ones ... lovely post - cheers Hilary

    1. Hi Hilary,

I'm delighted to have you visit, dear Hilary. Now that the studying is finished, I'm sure you be lighting up the blogging world with your meticulously written postings.

The challenges can make us stronger, more defiant to the negativity that would try to darken our world. The changes in my son, myself, quite hopeful changes. Penny writes and I cope better. The wee folks, another positive distraction to help me keep by brain active. Imagine a world that is greener, cleaner, more caring. Such a legacy for the next seven generations.

All about what's near and dear to our hearts. Thank you for your kindness, Hilary.

  62. I often wonder why it's the "mentally stable" ones in our world who run for political office and win, while we in the not so stable category nurture our children, care for our pets and till the soil. You do till the soil, right?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi Lee,

Many of those these days in political power are there because they feed of apathy. They have proven they don't care about anything other than feeding their own pathetic ego trips. Your comment resonates with the horror of politics going on in Britain.

Those that nurture their children, look after our beloved animals and till the soil, are being targeted by those allegedly "mentally stable."

I till the soil, pull the weeds and wash windows.

Family, furry family members and friends, that's what it's all about. Thank you for responding to the link. Very good of you. The road has had potholes and yet, the challenge of being a single father has taught be so much more about who I am. Peaceful, positive kudos to you, Elsie.
