The Beach Of Dreams.
Cast away those dark and dreary thoughts. Set sail upon the sea that takes you to the beach of dreams. Drift along, drift along turquoise waters that caress the bow of the fair ship, 'Inspiration'.
A gentle breeze tingles your face. Elation, anticipation, celebration, thoughts and emotions, that stir your soul. Off in the distance, you see that beach of tropical trees, golden sands, glowing in the glory of a setting sun.
And evening becomes night. A million stars, in a million galaxies, twinkle beyond an endless sky. And the moon, our beautiful moon, shines down upon the sea, the ship and the shore, that beckons you to the beach of dreams.
Into a dreamy moonlit cove, the ship doth traverse. The anchor is lowered and the fair ship Inspiration rocks back and forth, to the rhythm of the soothing, tranquil waves. The little row boat takes you ever closer to the final destination. Your hearts beats faster. You sing, you laugh, you smile, you cry. Tears of joy stream down your face, as you lie in the sand, stare up the heavens and rejoice in this moment, on the beach of dreams.
You grab a stick and write some words on moonlit sand. Words that define the rest of your life. The tide rolls in and washes your words, away. Yet, those words in the sand, on the beach of dreams, will be etched in your mind, forever.

Some of my favorite childhood memories were on beaches with my grandparents. :) My Grandad would buy me a new bucket and spade every time we went. LOL!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Gary, that would make a great meditation piece if it were set to some tranquil music. Lovely. My favourtie beaches are down on the rugged cornish coast - not quite so tranquil but very magical. A lovely post. Best wishes and have a good weekend
ReplyDeleteDi xx
Hi Gary, you certainly have a way with words, I was miles away for a moment! Not in the tropics, but on a beach where I spent my holidays with my Mum,Dad and little brother in Northumberland, atruly beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful weekend.

ReplyDeleteThank you. Take care

Very nice, Gary.
ReplyDeleteI know it’s not quite the same, but this brought back memories of Sea Fever, a poem I learned when I was very small . . . I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky . . .
The enigmatic, masked blogger
Hi Gary
ReplyDeleteI was transported away to warmth and sunshine. I listened to the slow waves rolling in and out and it made me feel sooooo relaxed. Thank you, I needed that breath of fresh air. Hmmmmm. Very lovely.
Hi Gary,
ReplyDeleteI love how your imagery made me feel. For a moment, I forgot to look out at the bare November branches and could only hear the waves lapping up to shore. I'll carry the warmth with me for the rest of the day. Sea you...
You described Jamaica to a tee. I love the imagery, so vivid that I could taste the salt air and feel the waves, the intense sun. Your words transported me in a blink of an eye. And how glorious to be back, even if it was only for a moment. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI'm really pleased to know that this posting brought back pleasant childhood memories of being on the beach with your grandparents.
I recall getting a new bucket and suddenly feeling quite sick. Yes indeed, I started to become 'pail':-)
Thanks Sharon and have a peaceful weekend.
Kind wishes, Gary.
Hi Diane,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for such a lovely comment.
I too, find the Cornish beaches, very magical and I have fond memories of being in Polperro and Looe.
Here's wishing you a most pleasant weekend.
In kindness, Gary x
Hi John,
ReplyDeleteThank you for such complimentary words. It is greatly appreciated.
I think it's wonderful that this brought back memories of your childhood in Northumberland.
I have friends who live near Northumberland and they have told what magical place it is.
Here's wishing you a peaceful weekend.
With respect, Gary.
Greetings Old Kitty,
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds like an idyllic plan. Charlie and you, I just know, would have a magical life on the beach of dreams.
Thank you for your comment. I am most grateful.
Have a wonderful weekend.
In kindness and good wishes, Gary

Hi Masked Friend,
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think it's heartening to know that this brought back memories of the poem, 'Sea Fever'.I am also familiar with that poem and we learnt it in grade 7 (year7) in Canada, when I was 12.
"I must go down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship
and a star to steer her by.."
By John Masefield.
It is a beautifully crafted poem and I thank you for reminding me.
Have a peaceful and pleasant weekend, my friend.
With respect and kind wishes, your way, Gary.
Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteAh, what a result. This truly was one of my reasons to post this up. So glad you immersed your self with the waves of soothing positivity.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warm wishes and happy thoughts, your way, Gary:-)
Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteWow, your words resonate with me. I am so gladdened to realise that, for a few moments, you were transported away from noting the bare November branches and listened to the waves, lapping upon the shore of the beach of dreams.
Well I shore appreciated your lovely comment. Sea you later, I send you a nice gentle 'wave':-)
Have a peaceful and positive weekend, Rebecca.
Warm wishes and respect, your way, Gary.
Hi Joylene,
ReplyDeleteI am really thrilled to know that this posting brought back such vivid thoughts of your time in Jamaica.
I'm delighted that, for a few precious moments, you were experiencing the sensations of such a time. Awesome and thank you!
I am now going to go listen to some Reggae music and trip away, maaaan..
Here's wishing you and your loved ones a lovely weekend in beautiful BC.
In kindness and positive wishes, your way, Gary:-)
What a beautifully descriptive post, Gary! Now I simply MUST get some vacation time and head for a tropical destination for my palm trees and ocean breeze! And a timely post...since the weather is really start to get chilly and I HATE winter!! Oh, where is my beach???? =)
ReplyDeletehi mr gary! the beach is my most favorite place i could be. when i get running bare footed in the sand and could be in the sunlight and run right into the water and dive under the waves im sooo happy. i could feel like nothing could be better then just being there. that was a really nice post.
ReplyDelete...hugs from lenny
One of my favorite places....wishing the weather was a bit nicer so I could take the family there today. =)
ReplyDeleteDear Gary,
ReplyDeleteLife's a beach, it seems, and then you die.
However, there is beauty in this terrible world, and your post is certainly beautifully and evocatively written- you feel as if you're almost there. I love the ending too.
You have a very real talent for writing, Gary, don't let no one tell you otherwise!
Yours with Very Best Wishes,
David.
P.S. My recent op went well, although I can now hardly move my left arm without some pain. Still, it should all heal soon enough. I'll be in touch to tell you all about it. I'm sure you'll look forward to that!
Hi Gary, I'm late again. Doh!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this truly evocative piece; it was like being there, wherever 'there' is.
(Reminds me of being in Barbados many years ago.)
Oh I love the beach (when there's not a crap ton of ppl on them walking around in speedos and bikinis they've absolutely no business wearing) Beautiful post Gary. Have a great weekend eh?
ReplyDelete:) Sam
What a beautiful piece of prose Gary.
ReplyDeleteI love beaches and watching the sea, find it so calming and makes me realise that I am such a small part of a huge powerful and beautiful mosaic.
Dear Gary, this imagery is simply beautiful and will stay in my mind. I love the sea and the tranquility it brings us. What amazing writing....
ReplyDeleteYou paint a very tranquil scene with your words. Makes me wish I lived close to a beach or, at least, makes me wish I was back on the beach in August.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very calming effect, my friend. I could use more of that these days.
Hi Michelle,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very kind words.
Here's wishing, that soon, you will be at a tropical destination that is indeed, your beach of dreams, complete with brand new sparkly jewellery:-)
For sure, forget about the chilly weather and visualise your beach.
Warm wishes and a travel brochure, your way, Gary :-)
Hey Lenny!
ReplyDeleteMy young friend, what you describe, sounds wonderful.
I can just imagine you laughing and smiling as you have such an awesome time on the beach. Thanks Lenny.
I hope you are having a really neat weekend.
Hugs and smiles, your way, Mr. Gary :-)
Hi MaDonna,
ReplyDeleteI do so hope you get a chance to take your family to the beach. Although, I must say that I have spent many a reflective moment on a desolate beach in the most awful of weather. It was quite a meaningful experience.
In peace and kindness, Gary :-)
Dear David,
ReplyDeleteLife's a beach and then you marry one. Oh, I didn't say that, did I?lol
Seriously, I thank you so much for your very kind response to this posting. It was my aim to try and hopefully instil sensations of being there. Wherever 'there', may be. This posting was trying to cause reaction on various levels and I think the comments, reflect this. I am grateful for that.
Thanks for thinking I have a talent for writing. I do hope you realise that your excellent writing has been an inspiration to me.
Glad to know your op went well. Rest, my friend, and I very much look forward to you telling me all about it.
Kind wishes and a bucket of sand, your way, Gary:-)
Hi bazza,
ReplyDeleteYou, my charming friend, are never too late. I must apologise for taking so long to responding to your latest informative posting. So 'doh!', also:-)
Thanks for considering this an evocative posting. Of course,'there' is wherever you wish it to be. Barbados sounds pretty darn good to me!
Take care of yourself. In kindness, Gary.
Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteYes, a beach with a heaving mass of flesh, is not exactly the ideal.
You should see me in speedos, or for that matter, a bikini. Nah, forget I mentioned the speedos lol
Thanks for thinking this was a beautiful post.
Hope you are having a great weekend n' stuff, eh:-)
In kindness and a pair of used speedos, your way, Gary..
Hi Juliana,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very kind thoughts. Beaches can be such calming places. And quite right, it makes one realise that we are "a small part of a huge powerful and beautiful mosaic."
Thank you, Juliana.
I hope you had a most pleasant weekend.
With respect, Gary.
Dear Cher,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely response.
Nothing like being 'there', the beach of dreams, or wherever our senses carry us.
Here's hoping you've had a peaceful and pleasant weekend.
In kindness and respect, Gary.
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very kind comment. It is most appreciated.
In your mind, you are back on the beach. This is a calming and positive focus that makes your world, that little bit better.
Take care, my friend, and think of your beach of dreams.
With respect and positive wishes, your way, Gary :-)
You would have enjoyed the weekend I have just been too, full of poetry and discussions about beautiful words.. Hugs.. xx
ReplyDeleteWhoops, so tired, just got back, can't spell anymore... sigh.. :0)
ReplyDeleteHi Gary,
ReplyDeleteLove that beach, of course Julie and I would be rolling round naked on it. That would only add to the ambience, and no doubt we would leave our own marks in the sand.
Great blog
Philip
Hi Carole,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a most idyllic weekend. Must have been very inspiring listening to poetry and talking about beautiful words.
Hope you have a nice, restful sleep.
Hugs, Gary x
Hi Philip,
ReplyDeleteI just know you two would have a wonderful time on your very own naked beach of dreams.
And, no doubt, your marks in the sand, would leave a thoughtful impression:-)
Thanks Philip. Please take very good care of yourselves.
In peace and kindness, Gary.
I grew up with the sand between my toes and the Atlantic Ocean for my bathwater.. I am one with the beach..any beach..anywhere..
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful read for this early Monday morning. Thank you..
Well Gary,
ReplyDeleteWe all leave the marks that we want to. As for the waves washing them away............... I believe, leave nothing and take away only memories. A great idea for what mankinds footprint on the world could be. Ah, alas.
Philip x
Hi Lynne,
ReplyDeleteI thank you for such a lovely comment. Your sense of oneness with the beach is truly an inspirational thought.
Very pleased you liked this posting. Here's wishing you a peaceful week ahead.
In kindness, Gary.
Hi Philip,
ReplyDeleteExcellent, my friend. I was trying to have this posting reach on many levels and interpretations. You have added another dimension of thought that is greatly appreciated. This is most heartening. Thanks Philip
Respect and warm wishes to the both of you, Gary x
HI to the dream weaver, who paints the sun with words. WHile reading your work I felt the sun on the back of my head or was that just the bad heating in the flat?
ReplyDeleteI came in from work cold and a bit annoyed cause I had nothing to eat and couldn't be arsed cooking then I read you prose. Suddenly I am wipping up coconut rum smoothies with the beach boys playing in the background. If I had a pet they would of thought I had gone boncus instead I have a neighbour thumping on the ceiling - I bribed him with a coconut and a reading from you prose
it was delicious to read
beautifully written, Gary... i am short on words because the tide has washed them away :)
ReplyDeleteyou are so fortunate to be living by a beach 7 express yourself so wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteand thanks for dropping by my blog
Hi Kerrie,
ReplyDeleteI sure hope it was the sensation of feeling the sun on the back of your head:-)
I'm heartened to think that after another day of the 'daily grind', you were transported to another 'place'.
Rum smoothies, coconuts and some Beach Boys music. Now that must have really created some 'Good, good, good, good... Vibrations':-)
I reckoned if you had a pet that it would have been a dancin' along to the music. And your neighbour most likely enjoyed a coconut and a bit of prose. So, a pretty darn good ending to your day.
Thanks for such a nice comment. I'm off to listen to a bit of Jacob Marley, I mean Bob Marley:-)
In kindness and a spare coconut, your way, Gary.
Hi Joanne,
ReplyDeleteThank you. And the tide washed the words away, yet the memory of the moment, lives on, forever. :-)
Greetings Smita,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very kind and thoughtful comment.
I am actually quite far from a 'real' beach. The beach of dreams is that happy place that I visit in my mind.
My pleasure to drop by your blog. Your poetry is wonderful.
With respect and kind wishes, your way, Gary :-)
I love the beach. You really brought me to a beautiful and tranquil place with this. Gorgeous writing here.
