The Beach Of Dreams.

Cast away those dark and dreary thoughts.  Set sail upon the sea that takes you to the beach of dreams.  Drift along, drift along turquoise waters that caress the bow of the fair ship, 'Inspiration'.
A gentle breeze tingles your face.  Elation, anticipation, celebration, thoughts and emotions, that stir your soul.  Off in the distance, you see that beach of tropical trees, golden sands, glowing in the glory of a setting sun.
And evening becomes night.  A million stars, in a million galaxies, twinkle beyond an endless sky.  And the moon, our beautiful moon, shines down upon the sea, the ship and the shore, that beckons you to the beach of dreams.
Into a dreamy moonlit cove, the ship doth traverse.  The anchor is lowered and the fair ship Inspiration rocks back and forth, to the rhythm of the soothing, tranquil waves.  The little row boat takes you ever closer to the final destination.  Your hearts beats faster.  You sing, you laugh, you smile, you cry.  Tears of joy stream down your face, as you lie in the sand, stare up the heavens and rejoice in this moment, on the beach of dreams.
You grab a stick and write some words on moonlit sand.   Words that define the rest of your life.  The tide rolls in and washes your words, away.  Yet, those words in the sand, on the beach of dreams, will be etched in your mind, forever.

  1. Some of my favorite childhood memories were on beaches with my grandparents. :) My Grandad would buy me a new bucket and spade every time we went. LOL!!!!!!

  2. Hi Gary, that would make a great meditation piece if it were set to some tranquil music. Lovely. My favourtie beaches are down on the rugged cornish coast - not quite so tranquil but very magical. A lovely post. Best wishes and have a good weekend

  5. Very nice, Gary.

I know it’s not quite the same, but this brought back memories of Sea Fever, a poem I learned when I was very small . . . I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky . . .

  6. Hi Gary
I was transported away to warmth and sunshine. I listened to the slow waves rolling in and out and it made me feel sooooo relaxed. Thank you, I needed that breath of fresh air. Hmmmmm. Very lovely.

  7. Hi Gary,
I love how your imagery made me feel. For a moment, I forgot to look out at the bare November branches and could only hear the waves lapping up to shore. I'll carry the warmth with me for the rest of the day. Sea you...

  8. You described Jamaica to a tee. I love the imagery, so vivid that I could taste the salt air and feel the waves, the intense sun. Your words transported me in a blink of an eye. And how glorious to be back, even if it was only for a moment. Thanks!

  13. Hi Masked Friend,
Thank you. I think it's heartening to know that this brought back memories of the poem, 'Sea Fever'.I am also familiar with that poem and we learnt it in grade 7 (year7) in Canada, when I was 12.
"I must go down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship
and a star to steer her by.."
    By John Masefield.
It is a beautifully crafted poem and I thank you for reminding me.
Have a peaceful and pleasant weekend, my friend.
With respect and kind wishes, your way, Gary.

  20. Dear Gary,
Life's a beach, it seems, and then you die.
However, there is beauty in this terrible world, and your post is certainly beautifully and evocatively written- you feel as if you're almost there. I love the ending too.
You have a very real talent for writing, Gary, don't let no one tell you otherwise!
    Yours with Very Best Wishes,
    David.
P.S. My recent op went well, although I can now hardly move my left arm without some pain. Still, it should all heal soon enough. I'll be in touch to tell you all about it. I'm sure you'll look forward to that!

I do so hope you get a chance to take your family to the beach. Although, I must say that I have spent many a reflective moment on a desolate beach in the most awful of weather. It was quite a meaningful experience.

  44. HI to the dream weaver, who paints the sun with words. WHile reading your work I felt the sun on the back of my head or was that just the bad heating in the flat?
I came in from work cold and a bit annoyed cause I had nothing to eat and couldn't be arsed cooking then I read you prose. Suddenly I am wipping up coconut rum smoothies with the beach boys playing in the background. If I had a pet they would of thought I had gone boncus instead I have a neighbour thumping on the ceiling - I bribed him with a coconut and a reading from you prose
    it was delicious to read

  47. Hi Kerrie,
I sure hope it was the sensation of feeling the sun on the back of your head:-)
I'm heartened to think that after another day of the 'daily grind', you were transported to another 'place'.
Rum smoothies, coconuts and some Beach Boys music. Now that must have really created some 'Good, good, good, good... Vibrations':-)
I reckoned if you had a pet that it would have been a dancin' along to the music. And your neighbour most likely enjoyed a coconut and a bit of prose. So, a pretty darn good ending to your day.
Thanks for such a nice comment. I'm off to listen to a bit of Jacob Marley, I mean Bob Marley:-)
In kindness and a spare coconut, your way, Gary.
