Is That The Planks I Get.

Hi there, yes it's me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar.  My human dad, Gary, has been a bit too preoccupawed with worrying about situations that may never happen.  I've told him to stop the negative speculation and focus on the realistic, pawsitive pawsibilities that may well come of his needless worry.

Although and I understand why he's struggling with an overwhelming sensation of claustrophobia in our apartment.

Luckily, the faulty fire alarm has not gone off while I've been here.  That would make my ears flap like you wouldn't believe! The faulty fire alarm still needs to be checked out.
This is the view outside the bedroom window.  A pawculiar, pawplexing  pawnorama of planks. Gary, a bit of a plank himself, took the above photo whilst lying on the bed.  This pawticular, pawculiar, pawplexing pawnorama of planks has been on view for over five months.

It all began when some workers had to fix our ceiling back then.  It now turns out that the entire roof of the apartment building needs fixing.  Thus, management has had the scaffolding left up.  They didn't think it made any sense to bring it down only to have it put back up again. But after over five months...well...that's now bordering on totally ridiculous!
The view from the bedroom window.  Beyond the scaffolding, beyond the planks and beyond the trees, you can see St. Lukes church in this here town named Leek.
Looking out of the living room window.  The orange building with the light coloured roof is the last place my human dad worked.  It's where the torment of workplace bullying ended for him.

Above, you see a whole series of photos and the scenery obscured by scaffolding.  A number of trees were cut back and the view in the distance has become more obvious.  A shame that my human dad has a clearer view and a reminder of the place where the bullying ended because his doctor signed him off too sick to work.

Then again, I'll get him to focus on all those pawsitive pawsibilities that are going to happen.

I'm sorry that Gary hasn't been commenting on blogs much lately.  I'll take over commenting while he revels in the irony of what happened a few days ago.  Hey, the latest farcical situation he finds himself him will make for one heck of a blog pawst.  So, that's a pawsitive thing....

Planks a lot
Is what we got
Silly scaffold ruins the view
What can you do
You wait and wait
Aint that great
Maybe some day
It'll go away

Thankfully, the alarm has not gone off but still needs fixing. The roof had better get fixed soon before the weather gets bad. Five months at staring at planks and Gary are way too much!

      Thank you, Jemi.

  5. Wow Penny.....that is some view. How to make something positive out of that I wonder.....well....at least they aren't bars on your windows. Take Gary outside Penny. Make him walk and breathe in the fresh air. Let him see the countryside without a plank in his eye. How ridiculous that they have left the scaffolding up for this length of time with no work being done.

  10. Thanks for the update Penny. Five months is a long time to be sure, but pawse a moment and think on this: my brother has been living in a rented apartment with two leaking windows so it gets wet inside everytime it rains and he requested repairs within a month of moving in, but now, a YEAR later, nothing has been done. Other apartments in the same building also have the same trouble, but the body corporate is really dragging its heels about getting things fixed.

  14. Hi Penny, please tell Gary I feel his pain. I had a painter and decorator at my home for three days and six weeks later I was heartily fed up of the scaffolding outside my house. I wrote a letter to him telling him I would be charging him £50 a day for storage of the scaffolding commencing with immediate effect. The scaffolding was gone the next day.

Penny, I know that's not a solution for Gary but I really do hope all the work gets sorted soon so Gary can rest easy again. Take care.

  16. Five months seems...excessive. Does the company doing the repairs not need that scaffolding for another job? Or is it really cheap, Ikea scaffolding that they can afford to just leave there indefinitely?
There has to be a positive side here. Is there any way to open a window, walk out on the scaffolding and have a cup of tea or glass of whiskey as the sun goes down?

  42. I'm here to comment on your newer post too, Gary. I'm so sorry you've had such a tough year. My heart was aching as I read what you've had to endure. I was bullied at work a couple of years ago because of my migraines. They were placing bets on me, actual bets, on if I'd show up or not, and my supervisor was in on it. It was so demeaning. But, because I was in such a low place health wise, I didn't do anything because I didn't have the physical strength. I'm so very sorry to know that you went through anything like that. It just sucks. I'm sending you lots of healing vibes.

Here's my new blog addy too and enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. Hi Elsie,

Apologies for such a long time in my actually responding to your thoughtful comment.

That's unacceptable what happened to you, my kind friend. How horrible of those workplace bullies. They knew you were vulnerable. That's why they considered you an easy target. I can so relate to what happened to you.

I tried several times to leave a comment on your blog. Unfortunately, I was unable to comment and just went around in circles trying to log in.

I copied and pasted what I try to state on your post. Here it is:

      Hi Elsie,

I'm having a heck of a time commenting on your site. My comment, which was lengthy, completely vanished. Wouldn't accept my email address or my url.

I'll try again as a guest.

Beyond the addiction, there is, most likely, a very frightened person trapped within the addiction. Of course, to move on from the addiction, we have to be sincere in wanting to get better and to embrace all the positive resources conducive to getting better.

Beyond the stigma there is hope. Flowers would be most symbolic of hope. Empathy is a powerful gift.
