Prawn On The Internet.

The following is another reposting that was originally published on Friday, 27 November, 2009.  I hope you enjoy this one and if you have read it before, enjoy it again.  And thank goodness, I've just sent of a huge pile of paperwork that has caused me so much stress. So, just for the 'halibut', here you are.....

Prawn On The Internet.
I keep hearing about folks searching for 'prawn on the internet'. I've really no idea what all the fuss is about. Something about soft prawn and hard prawn. Well, I don't know about that, but I've had a deep-fried prawn. Anyway, I didn't need to 'surf', or, for that matter, 'trawl' the internet, to find prawn. No, all I did was go into my local supermarket and found prawn hiding inside a bag of crisps (or "potato chips", if you are reading this from North America). Yeah, I know, the bag states it's, "Prawn Cocktail", and at this point, you might be thinking up some double meaning connotation.

A prawn is a crustacean. A crustacean is chiefly an aquatic creature. Typically, having their body covered with a hard shell or crust. One type of prawn is known as a "king" prawn. Contrary to what I'd believed was true, a king prawn is not in line for the throne of the British monarchy. Crabs are crustaceans. One type of crab is known as a "fiddler" crab. The fiddler crab, does not, as I was led to believe, play a small stringed instrument, or indeed, entertain the various sea creatures, with tunes from 'Fiddler on the Reef'. 'If I were a rich clam...' Lobsters are crustaceans. One type of lobster is named, "slipper" lobster. To this day, not one slipper lobster has been seen wearing slippers, smoking a pipe and sporting some tacky cardigan.

I wonder if a prawn has 'coral sex'? Do they do it 'atoll'? I wrote this story just for the 'krill' of it. I think I need 'kelp'. I know this posting was 'all at sea'. Yet somehow, it 'warmed the cockles of my heart'. No more fish puns because I'm beginning to 'flounder'. Right, that's enough, I'll 'clam' up now.

Careful with coral sex, my friend. Had a most painful experience on the Great Barrier reef....

  2. Hi Gary - I honestly don't know how Alex does it!! Coral sex or posting ... perhaps I'll leave that to the mind's eye ..

Well done on getting that bumph off to wherever - a relief off your mind and I sincerely hope you've covered all the bases. Look after yourself now ... though I know others need your support .. thinking of you - cheers Hilary

    1. Hi Hilary,

Alex probably has coral sex during posting. Moving swiftly on...

Glad you loved this post. I thought I went a bit 'nets' with this one.

Thank you, Hilary and I frantically posted it off at the last moment. Trying to get cooperation in a bureaucratic world is a stressful outrage. I shall indeed look after myself and hope to actually return with something new, fairly soon. Then again, Penny might just write something in the meanwhile.

You take very good care and thank you for your kindness.

    1. Hi Delores,

Thank you and I am relieved to send off a bunch of crap I shouldn't of had to go through. I hope they leave me alone and all the others who have been targeted by our government. Yes, the sick and the vulnerable.

Ah yes, fishing. I'm reeling over the thought of that :)

      Thanks, eh.

    1. Hello Joylene,

Coral sex is a bit of a 'barrier' to some. It entails, lying on a coral reef and staring up to the sky. That's if you can see the sky...

    1. Hi Lost in Space,

Delighted you found my recent reposts to be interesting. While I've been so stressed, it's been a good way to try and keep some momentum going on my site. Oh yes, that paperwork. What a trial by paper that was. They have put a lot of us through unneeded stress. Will stay calm as best I can and wait for the outcome.

Thank you and please keep maintaining your positive focus :)

  10. Good job on the paperwork.

As for the post, I suppose the sole idea was to sea if you cod winkle us out of our shells with some salty humor. It would be shellfish of me to carp at such a swell idea, so I'll just spray, I thought it was brill.

Thank you and that paperwork was doing in my last two brain cells.

I was waiting for somebody to come up with fishy type puns. I sea what you mean and that's for shore. Very good fishy type puns, Ian. Love your razor shark wit! :)

  13. Hi, first time commenter here. I saw a comment from you on Snowbrush's banana slug post and just had to click on you.

Thanks to that click, I have discovered from your masthead just what is wrong with me. I have not been challenging my inner critic. Or if I have [been challenging my inner critic], I've not been doing it nearly enough. Please read my latest post and tell me whether you agree.

I appreciate you dropping by and I will try not to make my answer um vague. Can imagine a banana slug split. Dairy Queen will never be the same.

I shall, when I have a moment, come and visit your site and check out your article. I do know that my "inner critic" tells lies. It's just trying to convince myself it's a liar.

Thank you and I shall see you soon.

  17. Hi Gary,
Apologies for not commenting on your previous post. I did try, but for some reason blogger wouldn't allow me to publish the comment I'd writeen! Anyway - Ah, "prawn". As you know, I do like a bit of "prawn" now and again. I particularly like a "king prawn" sometimes, which is so called because of its size in relation to other, smaller prawns. Indeed, if I were a prawn, I'd hope to be a king, rather than any other crustacean. As for crabs, it's perhaps better to steer clear of them.
    Yours unshelfishly,
    David.
P.S. Congrats on completing your paperwork. Now we both just have to wait and see, and hopefully all will work out OK. Unfortunately I can't think of anything more reassuring to say, as I think we both know how harsh this new regime is. But, on the other hand, there is always hope, Gare, and if things don't come out as we want, an appeal can always be made.

    1. Hi David,

Thank you for the phone call and of course, I am aware of that unfortunate situation in your attempt to comment on the previous repeat post. Sorry about that. As you know, if it acts up like that and you can catch it in time, you can copy and paste your comment and try again.

Words has gotten around that you are indeed the King of Prawn. And crabs...moving swiftly on...

And that bloody paperwork. What a nightmare we have both endured and I am so angry and stressed over it. I now live in the now and like you, hope all will be okay for the both of us.

Kind fishes and a bucket of crabs, your way, Gary

  20. Well, I can certainly understand why you are re-posting. Good luck on getting a positive response back, my friend.

This talk of prawns, chips, lobster and crabs (not the kind you get when you put your diddle in an infected ho's bearded clam) is getting me hungry.

    A poem:

Lobsters have shells that are difficult to crack
Crabs look like spiders that you want to smack
If I were fishermen, out to catch the ocean's prawn
I'd wile my hours away rubbing clams on my ballsack

'Tis beautiful and touching, I know. You're welcome.

    1. Hi Kelly,

Thank you for understanding. Has been a lot of totally unnecessary crap and I thank you for the positive wishes for the outcome.

Your poem has brought a tear to my eye. Such a sea-salty and fishy poem. Or am I thinking back to your mention of a bearded clam. Thank you so much, Kelly.

  21. This was great! I love all the fishy allusions.
I don't think I've ever seen prawn crisps out here in Aus. where crisps are called chips.
We do get bags of prawn chips from the Asian takeaways, but they're not crisps. They're some kind of pink, air puffed crispy crunchy thing that doesn't taste at all like prawn or anything else and leave a dry feeling in the mouth if you eat too many. Like more than two.
