Warm On A Cold Day.
I am feeling warm
On such a cold day
I look down the hill
Watch the children play
The sun is shining
The snow it doth glisten
Ah the laughter I note
I listen, I listen.
It has been another cold early January day. The Staffordshire Moorlands were bathed in the winter sun.
What a ideal moment for a walk and appreciate the beauty of a cold, clear, crisp winter's day.
I ventured from my home and took these photographs of Brough Park, in Leek. To see the children playing, to hear the children laughing, as they frolicked in the snow; was indeed a wonderful sight.
Yes, it was a cold day. Yet to get out, to immerse myself if the sights and sounds of such a magical day; brought me ever closer to the realisation, that my ongoing journey towards a better, happier life, had taken another positive step forward. A new decade, a new hope, this I embrace. I was warm on a cold day.
Dear Gary,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear that your steps towards a happier life are growing. And Leek looks wonderful in the snow. In fact, there's so much snow that I doubt I'll be seeing you at MAGMH this week. Still, that gives you even more time to take some more great pictures!
Wishing you a Very Happy 2010,
David.
Beautiful photographs, we too have a winter wonderland outside our window. Stood in the window bay this morning looking at the falling snow and suddenly all the many roads and lanes I'd watched, all filling with softly falling flakes suddenly came into my head, a mixture of many feelings.
ReplyDeleteMuch love, Carole. x
Beautiful photos and another beautiful post, Gary.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy and positive 2010.

Dear David,
ReplyDeleteThanks for you kind comment.
I'm trying to tune in more with all the beauty that surrounds me. This has been a most positive focus.
It could be rather difficult for me to get to Stoke from Leek using the wonders of public transport. Matter of fact, my next blog will have a bit of a transport theme.
Wishing you all the best, David.
Here's to a great new decade.
With respect, Gary.
Dear Carole,
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a nice compliment regarding my photographs. Britain has turned into a winter picture postcard. Nice to look at but terrible to drive in.
Watching the gently falling flakes of snow can have such an alluring quality.
Hugs, your way, Gary x
Dear Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks for that. I've been focusing on the beauty of nature. I'm glad you could sense this in my posting.
May this be a great year for your ongoing writing endeavours.
With kindness, Gary x
A lovely way to start the New Year.
ReplyDeleteSnow does stimulate the imagination doesn't it.
Hi Gary - Great blog! Happy New Year to you too.
ReplyDeleteI'm blogrolling you so I can read more of what you write :)

Hi John,
ReplyDeleteIt has been a lovely way to start this new year and new decade.
I'm feeling quite invigorated by it all. I suppose those stuck in traffic, might think otherwise.
Thanks John and happy blogging, to you.
Kind regards, Gary.
Hi Corinne,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very nice comment. I am most flattered that you would take the time to check out some of my other work.
All the very best to you and thanks again.
With peace and respect, Gary.
Excellent pix! You're very blessed to be living in such a beautiful place, Gary. Someday, when I become overwhelmingly rich and greedy, I'll buy a private jet and go to your country and build a rest house there which I will visit every winter. Ok, so I'm daydreaming. I guess that won't really happen. Maybe I'll just take off with a broomstick.
ReplyDeleteMay the force be with you, Jedi master!
Hi Gary,
ReplyDeleteI love snow. I love the small rays of sunlight that play off the tree limbs, children laughing, and the stillness of a cold day. You've captured it all perfectly. Thank you so much for taking us on this adventure!
May you continue to experience warmth of the heart, thoughout this new decade.
With gratitude and respect,
Dixie
Greetings Ryhen,
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a nice compliment regarding my photographs. I'm just doing a bit of 'dabbling' when it comes to photos. I rather enjoy the experience of getting out there and trying to capture all the beauty that surrounds me.
Speaking of broomsticks..I shall use one of my old 'jokes'...do beginner witches 'fly off the handle'?
May the farce be with you, my friend. With respect and good wishes, Gary :-)
Dear Dixie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful comment.
Just like you, I love the snow. I love the way it makes everything so magical and how it muffles sounds.
Shall we make some 'snow angels'?
I wish for you a peaceful, inspirational New Year, in what we hope, is the start of a kinder, more caring decade.
With gratitude and respect, your way, Gary x
